I know it's still a little early for many, but I'm kinda surprised no one has started this thread yet.
Normally, I don't start shed hunting until I'm pretty sure all, or at least most, of the bucks in my area have dropped.
This year was a little different as there was one buck in particular that I wanted to find the sheds from. Trail cams revealed that he dropped both sides about a week ago. As soon as I knew he shed, it was game on. I've spent every spare minute outside of work and family obligations logging miles in the woods.
After several days I had managed to find these smaller eights and a spike. However, the sheds I was after continued to elude me.
Apparently I need to look right more, as all I'm finding is left sides :biglaugh:

Then on Tuesday I had a couple hours after work before I had to be at my boys basketball game.
So off to the woods I went. JACKPOT!!!

Sometimes it's hard to judge the size of sheds in a pic. So here's a pic of him from earlier this year.

Gonna be a good one this fall!!
Yep, that's going to be a dandy. Congratulations on your persistence paying off. 👍👍
Nice payoff. Well done
Deno
Found this one last weekend, first time I've made it out . Lost my shed hunting buddy last fall. That combined with all the people coming in from the state east of me running everything has kinda killed my will to get out and look.

I hope he's still a good one this fall. I believe my boy skipped an arrow off his back in 13' as a 2.5yr old and I shot right underneath him in 18'. I'm nearly positive it's the same buck, so he was 8.5yrs old this year and will be 9.5 this coming season. :o
That's a dandy bvas. I have one that I've been after for quite some time that will be 9.5 this coming season as well. Water is too high for me to go look for his sheds right now, but I'll be after them as soon as it goes down.
Took a quick walk last weekend on some public I hunt. Most bucks are still holding but I wanted to get in here before the droves of shed hunters. Found a nice one 5 minutes in. A little later I found a really big dead head in a bedding area I know a few good bucks frequent. It's a shame he didn't make it, but I'm glad I was the one who found him
Some great finds so far! I need to get out.
Me Too!!!

It's getting about that time when I start putting in some serious miles looking for sheds.
I have made it out for a couple short walks the past couple weeks and found a couple sheds from previous years. The mostly intact one is from last year, but no idea on the other piece.

Found this small one today. Kind of cool that it sat almost backwards on his head
Nice finds...
Great finds guys. I've logged about 2 miles but none found. I know a few are still carrying. I hope to get to our farm in S Wisconsin. I know success will be easier there.
6" of new snow here this AM on top of a 12" base.
Shed hunting on hold for the time being. I like the bare ground look...
Only made it out once, snow pack to much yet, but found this near the house. Not huge but has a nice shape.
I've found nada (rather find em on a deer), but my buddy who is a shed hunting animal has about 15 on a table in his garage.
Checked out 2 bedding areas today. No luck..
Couple nice ones.....
Have a spot in the city that a beast hangs out I plan to check soon.

Renee is the shed finder around here . We walked a couple ditch edges on the lease today and she found a matched set !!

Still seeing big bucks carrying both sides here in Mid South Texas.
:campfire:
My Shed hunting and mushroom hunting are similar come out empty 99% of the time.
Antlers are much easier to find on the deer to me!! :biglaugh:
I saw an 8point run across the road in front of me yesterday morning....
Reckon I'll wait another week to start looking.
Went out two Saturdays ago. Found two real close together. :biglaugh:

Wife and I got out this afternoon. Had some luck.
Nice finds Bruce
I'm glad to see others are starting to have some luck. I've still got several areas to search.
Kenny, I hope Renee didn't rub it in too bad. :biglaugh: But don't feel bad, I've darn near stepped on some before I spotted them. And I've been showed up several times by youngsters. I think they stay focused and don't get distracted looking for sign and good stand sites :saywhat:
:biglaugh: I'm always looking at tree stand possibilities!!
We just got another 6 inches of snow here, it'll be a while before I can get out looking for sheds. On the plus side fresh bunny tracks will be easy for me and my boy to find.
Me and a bud have put in about 8miles the past couple days doin our version of social distancing.
He found one antler that was broke off back in November. I found one little shed to bring me to 12 so far this year.

Nice Kenny!
Who gets credit for those finds? :biglaugh:
Only me, Zwickey blew out her crcl in a back leg and needs to lose some weight before fixing it. She's on three legs right now. She weighed in at 104 at the vet...
I found these last week on my Javi Hunt. It was pretty cool how this bed was positioned directly south of a large feeder and box blind. Perfect for a north wind during the rut and. This buck could watch the hunter access his stand while scent checking the feeder for does.
The single antler was less than 30 yrds from the pair.
My brother has been training a young lab to find sheds and she's showing a lot of promise, already found one in the wild buried under the snow. Another 3 weeks and we should have enough melt to do some serious searching, I got a couple monsters I'm after.
All the best to your pup, I hope she has a quick recovery and is by your side in the field before you know it.
Never mind... I still can't post pics.
What happened with Tapatalk?
This is getting frustrating!!!
Hope this helps!
Thank you!!!
Nice Randy.
It's nice when you can double dip on a huntin trip :biglaugh:
I'm usually good for finding one shed during our spring turkey season. Two years ago I was walking thru knee high grass when I stepped on a "stick" that flipped up and hit me in the calf. Thought I'd be nice and throw it out of the farmers field. Instead, I reached down and picked up a nice four point side. First shed I ever found without seeing. :biglaugh:
I was on the quad riding the edge of a hayfield , must have been ogling the pond across the fence when I felt a big bump . Yup ran over one if 6" of grass...
First MI shed I've ever found...
Went for a walk last night and found a few, this is the best one.

this was my target buck last year. I have not seen him since 11/07/20. an incredibly lucky find in the tall prairie above my house!
