At 5:20pm this buck came off the ridge and into the field to eat. He stepped on the field edge and I drew back and tried to stop him with a bleat. He kept walking and then stopped quartering away. Was focusing on the spot in the dying light and released. Focused too hard and didn't notice some brush and shot between 2 skinny scrub trees. Well a small limb must've knocked my arrow mid flight and 10 yards into a 15 yard shoot took a hard right and hit the deer in the spine. He dropped and was bleeding a ton. It appeared I clipped the aortic artery because he was really bleeding. He rolled down 5 yards from the tree and I followed it up with a 2nd shot. Glad It worked out. Small limb be damned I'm happy it didn't go worse.
