I believe this is the weekend my oldest graduates college....I'll have to check.
I'd love to see you there and meet you Terry. I think you would enjoy the shoot. And congratulation on the upcoming graduation. What a great accomplishment.
Sure thing Pat...
Ok....found out she graduates the last of April....let me see when we are coming back as we will have to move her.
It's an exciting time, Terry. I remember going to our daughter's graduation from college and later law school at USC. Helps you realize you and your wife were successful at your job as parents. Very rewarding!
Congratulations again.
:archer2:
The Mecca of all 3D shoots in the Nation. If you have not been to this event Ya just have not lived the Twin Oaks dream.
HH~
Last year was my first year going to this, and I can't wait to get back! It's also great that I'm only about 45 minutes away.
Is there ever any kind of Tradgang meet-up during that weekend? It would be cool to meet some of the Gang in person.

One of the first shoots that gets checked off my calendar. I had put in the word with the Ranger in the Sky for great weather so we'll see? Record crowds, great economy, fat pockets. . . . . I'm thinkin record gets broke.
Dont miss the record breaking Tennessee Classsic folks.

Now yer talking, PaT .
Think I know that Outlaw.
Whose that Skinny Jeans sitting on that old peeling horse? Never seen him at TO.
HH~
That's Weylin, Shawn. This was his first trip to Twin Oaks last year but I'd bet it won't be his last.
Skinny Jeans. Ok, dont recall. I'm there every week 2-3 days. See lots of folks.
That the guy who stirred the Rodent Stew Pot on PA, that skinny jeans?

I might just have to see what the fuss is all about.
What's up with the selfbow challenge? Bring your own wood?
I would bring a limb prifile cut stave. You can get a full stave there if you want. Never know what grade wood youll get.
I know Sime cut split glued up plenty high grade pignut hickory staves wiil be there. Some will be full staves some will layed out and profiles cut and some reflex put in for sale.
Cut some Osage Limbs they will be ready by May for building!
HH~
I have the wood. I just didn't know if you had to get it there. On the flyer it says make it with Gary Davis so i wondered if we needed to buy wood from him. Thanks for the reply. Hope I get down there.
Gary will be there working but there are others of us that help under the bow shed, John. Usually there is plenty of wood there but if you have a well seasoned stave you might be better off. Lots of bow building and other stuff going on from the Friday before, through the week. Once the official opening of the Classic on Friday gets here the bow shed is open only for the Challenge members from morning until about 6pm. After that it open to anyone wants to work there through the night. There will also be flint knapping, arrow making, knife making and lots of other stuff to do. Never a dull time at the Classic. If you don't have fun, it's your own fault.
Yep Pat is correct.
Osage Outlaw (clint) not doing staves anymore so that about 1/3 or more that usually will not be there. The other note I will add that season wood usually is in a finite number of staves. So, if you have good seasoned stuff by all means bring to make a bow for the SB Challenge. The one I used for the Challenge last year was a knotty small Dia Hedge Apple stave about 6yrs old I had found stashed under my Old Town Canoe. Forgot I had it.
HH~
Sounds like a lot of fun. I'l make every effort. Been a while since I hacked on some wood. Got a swap bow to make.

I was there for that Sista photo. That was before that bottle got gone. That was early 2018-2019 Classic pic.
HH~
Really would like to be there. Thing is I would like to shoot the course but dont think my health will let me make it around now. My wife went down a number of years ago and did a bow. It turned out great and has really colored up since then. She loved the building....
I guess we will see what happens.
Hope you can make it, Bruce and bring your wife back. :archer:

hoping this is the year I can make, been wanting to go there for several years now.
I'd like to meet some of the folks I read about on the Life is Good thread, which, btw, is one best long running threads I've read on PA.
You won't regret it Daniel. Hope you can make it.
Yep, just everyday Life and yes it is Gud.

This is an event that it too good to miss! The best target presentation of any shoot I have ever seen!... not that others aren't good, or even great, but the Classic tops them all.
Also a bunch of fun rain or shine. You can expect there to be a bunch of shooters at this no matter the year or the forecast. Temperatures are generally mild as well. Terrain is beautiful, and Pappy and the crew put on a hell of a shindig!
Again, this is not to belittle any other event. This is the good time I compare all others too.

My tenth or eleventh. 11th I think?
It is the Holy Ground of the American Selfbow and 3D Archery.
HH~
Greg B has helped many folks build selfbows over the years. He'll be in his Twin Oaks orange T shirt all weekend at the Classic helping folks make shavings.
You sure Pat?
Think that was Don H's bow he was starting there. Which is one hella nice bow. Greg makes a very good bow, knife or wood carving.
HH~
Yeah Shawn, I'm sure Greg has helped many folks build selfbows over the years and if Greg is at the Classic this year, which he will be come hell or high water, he'll be wearing his Twin Oaks orange T shirt. :readit:
I will ask him this morning. You might be right but then again we have flood stages already. You may see HH under that tin doung same work? Theres only one guy that is under it more.
Shawn~
Not even flood stages kept Greg away back in the days of the great flood.
:archer2:
The Hot spot!
Shawn~
Greg and I prepped 65lbs Brats for summer eats yesterday. Took about 3 hrs with clean up. They will stuff casings on monday.
In Couple weeks we have about 50 high grade Pignut Hickory Staves to profile for blanks for the Classic.
These will be Twin Oaks Bowhunter blanks available to folks at the classic for bow building. So, get a yourself a TO bow blank grown right off the farm.
Shawn~

Big fun in the Holler.

Shawn, don't know what I'm more excited about—the Classic or it being that light at 6:38 PM! :biglaugh:

Update:
The Tennessee Classic at this time is in a Wait Position. Twin Oaks Bow Hunters are going to make a decision as to the status of the event by April 15th. Let hope we can turn the corner on this Wuhan China Virus.
Stay well all. God Bless.

Hope we can have it, haven't been there in a few years and my son is excited to go back!!!
David, I hope so too but with this CoVid19 virus ramping up I kind of doubt it will happen. I hate it, especially for Pappy and the Twin Oaks gang with all the time and money they have already put into it. Pappy will make the final decision on April 15 so we'll know for sure then.
I know I won't be going this year and it's killing me. Not only because of the virus(that would be enough) but also my Isuzu Trooper blew a tranny so we only have one reliable car.
Yes it certainly is crazy!!!!!! I think when this is over someone should make a corona virus target for everyone to shoot :bigsmyl:
That is an excellent idea.
:coffee: :archer2:
Or maybe a Florida spring breaker. They need something to get their attention. :dunno: :readit:

from Pappy...
Sorry to say because of all that is going on we made the hard decision this morning to call it off . You just don't know how hard this is for me, most that come are like family to me some even closer. I hope everyone understands. We may do something later depending on how all this plays out. No fear here but just can't take the chance of some of my friends getting ill. Hope all stay safe and hope to see ya somewhere down the road. Sometime sad but Life is still good . 😉 Pappy / PS please help me get the word out!!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunate, but the right decision.

Huh? :dunno: :biglaugh:
Hedge It may take a good long while for this virus to pass, hope the world stays safe while we wait it out, sure be ready when and if it get's cleared up.
Kurt
It will blow up in spots like it has around the globe already while remaining relative normal in other places.
Shot and build selfbow today. Nice, 80 today. Had mini classic. Was scraping on a new hunk of Hedge called "Wedge the Wuhan Slayer". Has a 3/4-1" trench running up back. 20yr old stave.
Got to do something during the Wuhan Plague Kurt?
HH~
As more tests are done in the future more folks will show signs of infection. In Greenland they tested every citizen. Half of the folks that tested positive showed no outward sign of the disease but were contagious. We won't know how severe this will be for a few weeks at least.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy.
Most places that are infected are showing signs of contamination weeks prior. Testing shows on an Island that they almost had zero i fections. The rest of the world is not in that situation.
If anyone thinks that this cant touch anyone anywhere is ignorant of the sitrep on the ground. This will likely end up frim the Amazon to the Gobi desert.
Get or make your decon essentials not just for but for the folks around you.
Scraping Osage and good bourbon toddies seem to help me.
