Title: longbow riser length question..again?....
Post by: razorsharptokill on February 12, 2007, 07:49:00 PM
I think I already posted this but can't find it.
If I shorten the length of the riser and leave the limbs the length listed in the plans(bingham), will it make the draw weight heavier?

Plans call for 17" riser but I found some dymondwood from a rifle stock supplier that comes in 14" lengths for rifle fore end stocks.

If you leave the bow the same length it will reduce weight some. How much,I have no clue but it will be lighter.

By "bow" do you mean the riser section or limbs?

If you are talking about a 3 piece bow yes it will gain some weight with the same limbs on a shorter riser.A lb for each inch or maybe more depending on the bow.

If you are talking about a one piece bow and just useing a shorter riser in the same length bow you will lose weight.Clear as mud?  :)
