Title: Passing of Steven Catts, Leathersmith
Post by: David Mitchell on December 20, 2019, 06:36:38 PM
It is with deep regret that on behalf of the family of Steven Catts, aka Leathersmith, I am sharing the news of his passing from this life on Wednesday, December 18. Steve was well know for the outstanding quality of his crafting of fine leather quivers and other products for the archery and shooting sports. Please remember his family during this time of grief.

Jackdaw, I got the very first sidekick quiver Steve made.  He lived about 45 minutes from me and I described the sort of thing I was wanting and left the details to Steve. Steve called me one day to tell me it was ready.  When I saw the sidekick, it was exactly what I had in mind.  A true artist with leather.

I have several items that Steve made.  He made things to last beyond a lifetime.  God bless him, he will be missed.

Over the years, I had meet him at various "shoots, spoke with him on the phone,  and found him to be a nice, to the point, man of few words who did a great job at his chosen work. I have also had him make several items for me and they are some of my favorites and should well outlast me. He had been around a long time and frankly the to-go-to guy for so many leather items.  I am sad to hear of his death , and wish his family peace with it.

Does anyone know what took him?
