Im wanting to do an ilf riser build this spring so the brainstorming process has started. Below are my first 2 design plans. Both are right at 13" ilf risers but that is where the similarities end. A would have the limbs and bolts recessed a bit to be a little more streamlined with the riser and the riser has more deflex putting the deepest point of the throat of the grip in front of the limb bolt. B is a more traditional recurve riser shape and will be easier to make but will have the limb bolts exposed and limbs mounted right to the front of the riser. B will not have as smooth of a flow to the limbs but will utilize a little lower brace height and be a bit faster while A should be smoother and more stable. Which design style would you all lean more towards?

Like I said B on another page. With an overlay or lays same thickness of your limb butts. Much easier and stronger. Lot of room for error on the cutouts on A.
I think Mike has the right idea. There used to be a ILF riser build a long on one of the forums by Bobmiester it was farily detailed and Bob turns out some really nice bows. Hopefully it is still around.
By my thoughts my hardest part is going to be making a 13" riser work. Doesnt leave much room between those limb bolts.
I prefer B as well.
What are the considerations for limb pad angle with an ILF? Is it standardized?
Usually limb pad angle is around 18°. Im not sure the exact angle on these, i kind of cheated and copied the angle from my 21" aluminum riser.
Nothing wrong with a little copy here and there. I just did two 13.5 risers. I have to look to be sure but the bolt holes are 3 5/16s from the end. That build Jess talks about is on POA and he used a machined insert and routed the riser They called them donkey plates Feral Donkey over there machined a few out. I have a set somewhere. If I can find them you are welcomed to them.
This riser is 12-3/4" long, there is 2-7/8" of limb butt on the riser. the bolt is 1-3/8" from the end of the riser.
It's not a Ilf butt some info..
