I thought I would hunt a couple of hours this morning before starting work and went to my pop-up about 300 yds. in front of the house. The hunt was uneventful so I get out to do a bit of scouting. Didn't walk a hundred yds. and found a very fresh scrape just inside the Nat'l Forest line so I didn't want to disturb the area so I backed out to walk home.
Here's the "Neat" part...On my walk back a medium sized Bobcat stepped into the path and it never once looked at me. I nocked an arrow onto my Toelke Recurve and wanted a shot although it was about 40 yds. in front of me. It then ran to my right and I thought it was gone. In a couple of seconds, it returned onto the path with a small rabbit or rat in it's mouth. At this point it looked at me and froze in the middle of the path. I drew and shot (I rushed it) and shot just under the cat. Needless-to-say it bolted away to enjoy it's breakfast. Not a kill but a great encounter that this old man will remember.

Sounds like a great morning hunt , funny how when your just out there, things sometime happen.
Very cool encounter! Thanks for sharing it with us!
Very cool encounter. On sunday I witnessed a bobcat rush a couple grouse but missed. The bobcat froze. When one of the grouse flew back down from its perch by me I thought he'd resume chase but went the other way eventually
