Title: IPE
Post by: Jason W on October 21, 2019, 08:13:03 AM
Throwing a feeler out there.
Anyone ever experiment with IPE for wood shafting.
I feel it would be good considering it is very strong, and holds up well in wet conditions. You should also be able to make higher spines in 5/16" diameter....

I am looking for anyone that has tried and can source.

I ran a few years ago and found them very heavy and high in spine at 5/16.

I ran a bunch to see and found what Mike found, very heavy mass weight even at 5/16" Spine varied from board to board just like most other woods.
I do like to foot Spruce and cedar with Ipe however.
