As some know,my oldest son passed away last Sunday. He was a good son,friend,brother,and the list could go on forever. He will never be forgotten.

No Kenny, I didn't know that, and am truly shook by the news.  I can't begin to imagine how devastating that must be for you and your family.
You know of course that your Trad Gang brothers and sisters will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers.

Kenny, dont know you, but you and yours are in my families prayers. I lost my 19 year old son 6 years ago April 5th. He was a great young man,  like your son. Lost my son in an auto accident 2 miles from home, he was in the Nat.Guard, going to college and working full time, my best hunting partner and we were buds, great relationship that was forged in the woods hunting and shooting. I'm sorry to hear that. My son is dear to me, as they all are to everyone, and I've wondered how I could make it if something ever happened to him.
Times like this takes me back to a friend who lost his mother prematurely.
I asked him how he was doing, and he said it was rough.
I said,"well, you just have to keep on keepin' on, you don't have a choice."
He looked at me and I saw his eyes open. He nodded his head and replied, "you're right, I have to keep goin'."

 We lost our 18 year old son a year and 9 days ago. I know. The days get slowly easier to bear. They say losing a child is the toughest thing to every go through. I believe it must be true. Thank you all so much for your prayers and thoughts. We are dealing with this the best we can,knowing there are so many caring folks has really helped us.To those who offered phone #s,I just can't talk yet,it may be a while yet.

Ken Jr. was a diabetic,but he took good care of himself.We will not know what happened for 6 - 8 weeks. He was ours to enjoy for 28 short years.

Kenny, I've posted earlier but just want to say that it was a year on the 1st of this month that we lost our son. I am just beginning to feel that my heart is starting to heal a little. It was a question that I'd had "How long does it take for a heart to heal?". I didn't ask it right away. At first I asked "Why?". My son died of myocarditis, a viral infection that attacked his heart. I've also asked "What could I have done differently?". The answer to that is, nothing. God needed him. I love life, and as bad as it can be sometimes this is a wonderful place to be. How much more wonderful is heaven. I can only imagine.

Galen,I know this,because the buck he took walked past me at about a dozen steps,I watched him go praying against all odds that he would go the 300 yds to where Ken was . He did,and it worked out,and so the picture. Glad you pointed out the church in the background.Life's plan continues.

Man, this happened before I was a member here so I have a lump in my throat reading through these 9 pages for the first time.......

I lost my father 30 years ago, when I was 8, never got the chance to hunt with him......
Time heals the wounds but it sure leaves a scare that never goes away.....

Glad you shared this, its a reminder to not take for granted those times with our loved ones!

Every time I make the drive on 5N and pass the sign outside of Linneus in memory of Kenny, I say a little prayer for the both of you. Kenny-
You probably don't remember... but back in 2011 my little brother was killed in Afghanistan while serving in the 1/279 Infantry. You sent me not only a public message but a private message as well. We had spoke on the phone maybe once and emailed a couple of times but your words were so heartfelt and personal I have always felt you are a friend... even though we have never met. Your words still meant a lot to me.

Now I hope to give you some personal words. I feel heartbroken that you are dealing with such grief. I know that the weight of it comes in waves that can be overwhelming. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family my friend. If I can do anything beyond daily prayers just ask.

I'm sorry for your loss Kenny.  I unfortunately know the feeling, losing my infant son (twin brother to my son, Jonathan) 11 years ago.

They say time heals all wounds, and it does.  But scars remain. :pray:

Kenny,

I joined in 2009 and was unaware of your loss.  Ten years seems to go by in a blink of an eye sometimes.  I will take your advice and tell my close ones how I love them.

Yes ten years goes fast, my main reason for revisiting this thread was to encourage folks to let your loved ones know how you feel.

Ken and I were on great terms but I wish I'd gotten to tell him one more time....

Kenny, After meeting you I know you are a good man! I know your son had a good role model and loved you as much as you loved him! It sadden me to know you had to go through this very difficult time. I admire you for bring up the fact that we need to cherish every day with the ones we love and tell them often we love them. May God Bless You!

Kenny, I read through the whole thread and saw 10 yrs ago I posted condolences to a fellow I only knew from this website. I knew you were a good man then but after hunting with you this past January I know how fortunate you and your son were to have had each other. If you recall I asked about the sign on the highway, that is a nice tribute to your son.

Your advise to us is sound and I for one take it to heart. I also take to heart that I am lucky to have met you and call you friend.
