Just got the nod that I can post up The 5 Foot Bull Video from this year's Full Draw Film Tour. I hope you guys enjoy it! If you can watch it on a TV screen, it'll come across a lot better than on a phone.

Awesome hunt South!!
Wow! That was fun to watch. It brought back a couple of close encounters that I had a few years ago. But I didn't get a shot. Still a wonderful experience.

Wow, That was fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
What a rush! That brought back great memories..
Absolutely phenomenal video! Congratulations on a wonderful elk!
I have a question for you experienced elk hunters. Why such large back-packs? What are you carrying that takes that much space and couldn't be left in camp with the donkeys (o.k. llamas)? I have been using a small day pack that holds enough water for the day, lunch, a wind breaker shell and a few other things. (I am hunting with a guide and outfitter in Big Timber) Am I kidding myself?
I would be grateful for any insight you can provide.
Thanks,
JMC
What an incredible video and such a beautiful animal! Thanks for sharing this with us South!

An elk hunter needs a heavy duty pack that is capable of hauling one boned-out elk quarter at a time. If your outfitter has pack horses that he can get to the kill site to haul your meat then you're in luck and won't need such a large pack. Plan for the unexpected and hope for the best. Good luck to you and have fun.
Impressive footage of an incredible experience.
Unreal, South... congrats!
That is the best hunt vid I've ever watched... WOW
Just watched it again, and won't be my last I think. That was simply great!
Well done - all the way around.
Great hunt, bull and video South!! Also that bull on the side hill was a giant! Makes it even harder to concentrate on work while waiting for Sept 1!
Wow, crazy finish. 😳😳Congratulations!!! 👍👍
Awesome video!!
5 feet?!?! Wondering if he was gonna run ya over, that will definitely get the heart pumping.
I've heard stories about close encounters like this but they are a little hard to believe. After seeing this I now understand that it can and does happen. I can't imagine where his heart was when the elk bugled that close.
Wow couldn't tell for a minute who was the hunter, you or the bull! Awesome hunt and to have it on a very well done video Congrats!
Very awesome, thanks for sharing!
Man that was intense just watching. I cant imagine being at full draw for like 15 seconds waiting for that dude to turn!
John, another reason for a full backpack is the possibility of bivouacking where you find elk. If so, you will need a shelter or at least a sleeping bag, tarp to spend the night. Food and a stove perhaps.
With an outfitter or guide, this is usually taken care of by returning to a base camp each night, but not always.
Several different ways to chase elk.
I don't think I could have made that shot. With my long arms the arrow wouldn't have cleared the bow.
What an incredible video - congratulations South!
That is an awesome video!! I can't imagine being that close to animal that big. The adrenaline rush must have been crazy! :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
incredible, Congrats bud!
Congratulations South and I couldn't believe how long you held your bow at full draw .I tried to time it a few times and more like 19 to 20 seconds and I would like to know what was the weight on your bow South if you don't mind sharing ? :clapper: Great video and beautiful footage
Thanks Keefer, I was shooting 52#. I'd dropped from 55 from the year before to get my arrows to tune on the ILF and was thankful that I did!
Amazing!
Great video!! I had my wife watch it and she really enjoyed it as well! You mention in the beginning that the muzzleloader season was open. Do you not have to wear orange during gun seasons in Colorado? Here in Michigan we have to wear orange during any open gun season. Also, I noticed your hunting partner was carrying a cow decoy. That's also not something I would try here in the crowded woods of Michigan during an open gun season. Amazing to have caught that sequence of events on video! Nice job keeping your cool at the moment of truth!!
Wow.... :clapper:
Not sure it can get any better than that. Great video. Congrats and thank you for taking us along for the ride. :shaka:
Wonderful video! Thank you.
Murray
Great video, and awesome bull!!
If ever there was a video to demonstrate "don't overbow yourself", this would be it.
I had a similar situation two years ago, ended up at full draw for way too long.....hammers it home!! Good job. Scott.
Wow. Just wow.
The amount of movement before the shot is a bit surprising, do you think the decoy helped that?
BTW: What kind of elk hunting weather is that? No rain, snow, or even cold. Short sleeves the whole time. WTF Jealous.
I loved the "We blew three elk out before sunrise...might as well blow out the last one. " That feels like a real hunt.
:clapper: :shaka: :archer2:
Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I can't thank you enough!
Congrats to all - great video.
Too cool, awesome video!!
very cool!
