In three weeks I'll be checking off number 1 on my bucket list. I'll on a river in Alaska on my very first moose hunt with my good buddy and fellow PBS member Bubba Graves. I've dreamt about this for what seems like forever, now I finally have the opportunity to make it a reality. It's been almost two years in planning and getting things in order. I think I've just about wore out my copy of Mike Mittens DVD!! This is going to be a LONG 3 weeks!!
I wish you and Bubba the best of luck.
Hey Preston, good luck to you and Duane on your elk hunt!! I can't wait to hear about it!!
Good luck and be safe!
Good luck Sean
What's your setup your using?
The best things about your first moose hunt in Alaska are....all the things you're going to learn about moose hunting, along with the classroom you'll do it in. School starts in a few weeks!
I well recall my first moose hunts and how intense they were. Nothing can prepare you for the experience of watching a very large upset bull thrash brush and glare in your direction. Then here he comes....grunting, drooling and tilting. You realize pretty quickly that you're not in charge, and things can get a bit uncomfortable. Be ready to kill. Your opportunity may happen on any given day.
I'll be in camp and waking up to hunt in exactly 2 weeks. A certain well-known bowyer is joining me on the hunt this year, and I'm happy for him. Hot coffee....warm oatmeal...and then it's time to greet the frosty dawn.
Good luck Sean.
Awesome!!!!
Good luck!
Bisch
Best of luck Seances
Sean
Awe man how lucky you are! I'm hoping to be on my first moose hunt within the next couple of years. Good luck and stay safe!
Good luck with the hunt!
What will your set up be? Bow/arrows, etc.?

Absolutely Kevin!! I was hanging out with Burkhardt Saturday night at ETAR and was loving his stories. My first encounter with a bull moose was about 28 years ago in Maine. I was face to face with him about 8 yards apart and I was in HIS way!! I knew right then and there that I wanted to hunt them!! Both Bryan and Monty have been a huge help and both have kept me on the edge of my seat.

Hi Larry, it's been a long time, good to see you're still hanging around.
Kevin, best of luck and thanks for motivation almost ten years back. Been missing your stories the last couple of years. I learned a heck of a lot about moose hunting the two hours Bryan and you spent with us at the Pumphouse.
I'm not headed north this year, next year is my 5th time chasing after moose In Ak. Going solo this time.
All of you, take lots of pictures (and share), I'm living vicariously thru others moose hunts until then.
Have a great time and be safe.

Thanks Jack! I had a busy year hunting wise, I hope to have a few articles in the PBS magazine.
Alaska moose hunts are incredible. The fishing is off the charts on the river hunts so don't miss out on it.
Glad you are chasing that dream. So many just wont do it.

Have a great time, and a safe one. I wish I would have seen your post a few days ago. Might have been able to compare notes; especially on packing gear and coming in under 50 pounds. Doing that now for a Tuesday flight. Taking my bow (Toelke Whip) and flyrod after moose and grayling.
Anyway, enjoy and I will definitely follow this thread for your stories and pics. John

thank you Charlie. Good luck on your Wisconsin season!!
I'm one that has probably put it off to long , a Alaskan moose hunt was always #1 on my list and I never made it happen due to family, finances or a variety of other issues ,now After a recent health issue and surgery's ,I'm afraid it's beyond My reach, so it's always cool hearing about guys able to follow their dreams, like said above, you are never promised a tomorrow, , I've also worn out Mikes DVD and have read everything I could on the subject,
Good luck Sean, have a safe and memorable hunt, I can't wait to read about it.
