Can someone tell me what the aluminum arrow size you use for a 400 FMJ 5mm? I did a search but there is some conflicting info on sizes. I had a bunch cut and given to me but not sure what size they are. Thanks gang.
Derrick
Looks like your FMJ 400 5mm is .263 O.D.
GPI SPINE STK LENGTH O.D.
500 9.1 0.500 31 0.256
400 10.2 0.400 31.5 0.263
340 11.3 0.340 32 0.269
300 12.0 0.300 32.5 0.273

Your specific arrow isn't listed, but with an O.D. of .263, from the chart linked a 1916 with an I.D. of .2649 should work
That's what I needed. Thank you!
Just a "Heads-Up", the 1916 may be a little snug... By consulting the chart I use 1914's for mine and they fit really nice. I was fortunate to have a couple of old Easton X7 in black and they look sharp too :goldtooth:
I would try to slip a 1916 on first before going gung-ho and cutting all of them. You need a little room for the Epoxy/JB Weld... Just a thought.
I think the 1916 will be a bit snug..
I always used 2" of 1913 platinum on my 400 FMJ's. I bevel them and apply with JB Weld. There is the perfect amount of gap to be able to adhere yet still spin true.
I just went and dug one up that actually had 1913 on it.

I too use JB Weld and chamfer the back end of the footing with a reloading tool... I cut my footings to 1-3/16" long.

Gotcha. I haven't ordered the arrows yet. I'll make the change
Depends on how snug/loose you want the footing.
My Bloodsport Hunter 500's are .285 O.D.
The 2013 I used for footing has a .2865 I.D. They fit nice and snug on the Bloodsport, used JB Weld Epoxy.
YMMW and use what you want to. .006/.008 clearance is more than I wanted.
