Let's see those that are worthy of the title...

It would be helpful to me to know what equipment you guys used- bow and arrow, draw weight and arrow weight.
Thanks
Blockhead was a pass through with a four blade Zwickey out of a 67 pound prototype ACS bow from A and H Archery...585 grain arrow running 187.

HA!!! That was the SECOND hog I put down on the spot that charged me that week....this one was two nights before...Yep, charged me in the dark. Both of these hogs went down on the spot.
Curt shot it 1st and Langahans was the light man when it charged me.....

Fine hogs boys
Man, seeing these pics made me want to give the piggies a try, right upon until I saw the phrase "dispatched while charging." That gave me a little pause. Nice work fellas!
Terry... I think it was a Mod Melt. It was one of the two part hunts. I got him on the last day and when everyone went to town to meet the new group Joe Coots went with me to help track and retrieve him.

Yep....and contrary to what you may hear...if big boars aren't rank they are great to eat....
Blockhead was processed in West Palm FL...and was some of the best sausage I've ever had!!!...not to mention the others I'm going to post.
Luckily I never killed a rank one. :dunno:

Oh, and Charlie, you may remember me telling you this story of Kristor....
I corned a road for him just before lunch, and after lunch we drove by it and it was full of Javies....I gave him some pointers and turned him loose....I was 20 yards or so behind him taking pics....
Well, the stalk didn't work out, and back in the truck we went...15 minutes later we got out to check an area...
Kristor said he'd been thinking about the stalk while we were driving, and he had given it a LOT of thought... He had surmised that the reason he blew the stalk was because I corned the wrong side of the road!!!

The Little Old Woman who Lived in a Shoe....She had so many children she didn't know what to do....
I'd have to go back to the story to see how many hogs were with this Gal....from 30 to upwards of 100#s and they all looked like children compared to her...
Bow is a 62" 64#28 Mowhawk given to my by Rob DiStefano....with the inscriptions 'Best Friends'....

Pdk25, where are all those monsters from? Oklahoma?
Most of them are. 4 are from Texas. I wish I had taken pictures of more of the big ones, but sometimes you are just to dang tired to deal with pics when you hunt at night.

We have shot a few bears in the Kong sized category but that hog truly was a giant. Guesstimations on hog weights usually are about 25-40 % higher than actual weights. He was weighed at 507 and in 45+ years of hunting hogs, I have never seen a hog that would be within 100 pounds of him. That includes tens of thousands of trail cam pictures.
I do have another red monster I am after on one of my hog properties right now. One of my hunters had him very close last year.
These true monster hogs are like hunting ghosts.
The story of Kong is one GREAT read ....
Every tradbowhunter should read it.....twice!!!

Some really nice pigs pdk25. But the fact that you're 6'8" from eating so much pork makes those pigs smaller than they appear.
My little 200 lb just doen't make it here.
Got that completely backwards. You're only 5' tall making them appear bigger.
Of course if you ARE 6'8"...thems some really big piggys.
Too early. Coffee hasn't kicked in yet.
This thread I'm LOVING!!!!..and thanks for no 'King' pics! (those pics where the hunter blatantly tries to hide the fact that he's 10 to 15 feet behind the hog making his quarry appear to be bigger).
Keep em coming guys!!!

Somewhere in the middle. Close to 6'2. Wish that my weight stayed as stable as that does, lol. The smallest in the group weighed 188, but he had no fat on him. That is the black boar shot at Lincoln Ranch, 2 days before I shot the spotted boar that scaled 220#, which is the second smallest one pictured. The one hanging from the tractor is over 300#, but I can't remember the exact weight. The one next to the German Shepherd is the largest. He bottomed out a 330# scale and a 70# scale ganged together, so I don't know the exact weight. I have shot 2 others that scaled over 300#, but lost pics when I drowned a phone.
Certainly have never shot, or seen, one even approaching the size of the monster named Kong that Jerry shot.
[attachment=1,msg2876919][attachment=2,msg2876919][attachment=3,msg2876919]
There are still some guys that I haven't been able to get yet, like this no-neck bugger. I stalked up to 20 yards from him one night along a lane with a favorable wind, but I couldn't get any closer. It was the craziest thing. He was literall tossing other smaller 75-100# pigs over 5 yards in the air in my direction, and then they would scramble into the brush in front of me. Probably happened 3 or 4 times. I felt the wind shift, he stiffened, so I took a quick shot, but he was gone by the time the arrow got there. Haven't seen him again since.
[attachment=4,msg2876919]
And unfortunately, I hit this one far back and didn't find find him for quite awhile after he died. He was actually quite a bit larger than he looks at the time the pic was taken.
Awesome hogs! We don't have any here yet, but they're getting closer.
Is a rank hog just bad smelling or does it affect the meat? Would it be edible still?
Dave.
You don't want to smell live or dead.... You don't want to smell it while your skinning it.... You don't want to smell it while you're cooking it.... By then you surely won't want to eat it.
Saddle Bags....AKA Pony Express...
More on him later....

I guess that is why you couldn't get to the phone this afternoon :biglaugh:
charlie got him a griller  those little ones are tough targets...too much air around them!
T... I was probably in the pool. I'm available now.
Yeah, I had a plan when I shot the little guy. He was running with some big boars and I wrongly thought I'd shoot him and he'd die quietly. Then I'd shoot one of the big ones. He made the dangdess racket you ever heard and the big ones never came back.
So much for plans.
He was a tasty little beggar though.

Charlie, I'm in South Central Kentucky (between Hopkinsville and Bowling Green, if you're familiar with the state). Never heard of any here, but may have them somewhere—it's a big state!
Great pictures! Very cool mount Terry! Jerry and Sam - those spotted hogs sure are cool looking! Sam- that spotted hog with the long hair sure is a gnarly looking beast! That would make a very cool full mount or even rug. Jerry- how did you call in the boar you call Spot? Was it with hog grunts or a predator type call like dying rabbit?
