Title: Help me build an arrow, what would you use?
Post by: plentycoupe on June 13, 2019, 11:08:56 AM
Am looking to build a carbon set up for my Stalker. I have so many from over the years and would like to create a final recipe to hunt everything with. Deer, elk, bear.
500-530grns total.
200-300grn point.
How is 64" longbow. 53@28 and I draw 29"
Thanks for any input.
Jason

Going to need a little more information. What type of string and what is the center cut on your bow. What carbons are you looking for and regular insert or heavy brass. :archer2:

I have been shooting aluminum more and more.
The FMJ is also a great hunting arrow.  I like the 6mm version that uses a conventional point insert.

use a carnivore if looking for foc weight, day six is reputed to be the toughest carbon, the easton fmj t64 is supposed to be the bee's knees and the good old axis still astounds !
i am shooting the carnivore and the axis and the black eagle vintage - they all group well when i do my job. seriously though get a light carbon shaft with the systems available from tuffhead, valkyrie or tophat. i have the tuffhead on order from Jason. it is supposed to arrive sometime soon.
there is not sound change from 130 odd less arrow weight that my ears could discern and a 10 inch change in poi.

another shafts i have never busted is the arrowdynamic tapered heavies- the nocks are a different story though

Black Eagle Vintage, probably .400, with points and inserts and cut to tune. Black Eagle are a great shaft for a really good price. Actually for me they are the best shooting, most consistent shaft at any price. They like a heavy point.
