Title: Just Another Old Bowhunter
Post by: Wudstix on June 07, 2019, 02:43:46 PM
Just got finished with the book I won in the auction.  Being from PA many of Tom's stories rang true.  I also enjoyed immensely the stories of out West.  Now at my age need to be content to chase TX whitetails and kayaking in to spots for hunting public land hogs.  By the grace of God I am still able to shoot some decent weigh bows, and for that am truly grateful.

Hey Michael,

At 60 years old, I would recommend spending as much of your time as possible wandering around with your stick 'n string, fishing and as many other pleasurable hobbies that your body will allow.  Leave the reading for when you get 'old'.  Remember, 'A body at rest - stays at rest,  while a body in motion - stays in motion'.

I spent too much time recently recovering from knee surgery sitting in my lazy boy chair and now I'm having a difficult time getting my 65 year old body back in motion.  Seems the hills get higher and the forest gets deeper every year.  Did get to spend quite a lot of time standing in the back yard flinging arrows.  Close range shooting involving less walking to and from the target.   All-in-all though, I too am grateful.

Be Well . . .  :archer2:

That's a good book!  I disagree with advice to read later  - reading such books NOW motivates me to hunt more while I can.

Love that quote, Friend.

Live moves fast, even in retirement I have much work to do.  Will take the advice to hunt more.  Getting ready for a week on the AT with my brothers, BIL and best friend from HS.

Read a chapter at night when you can't hunt....

I also find time to eat shower and be a father and run a business....... And still kill stuff.

And I also find the time to read Jeff's posts.....

And also find time to read Tradgang....Hmmmm think about that for a moment...

Internet is easy when you're stuck in the city.  Taking care of my grand-daughter.  Perhaps will get her shooting bow soon.
