Leaving at 4:30 in the morning for Stickflinger's ! (the 1225 mile drive is the only tough part!)
The fun part starts Sunday upon arrival! I hope those bears are up and hitting the baits. It looks like the weather up there has been warm enough for the activity to be picking up after their long winter snooze. Ryan"s area is full of bears (many color phase too) and he has it set up so right for traditional hunters.
I hope to see one even bigger than the one in my avatar!

Good Luck Mike! Wish I was going. Looking forward to hearing the stories.
This and Bear Quest are on my list!!!!!!!

Best wishes and luck to you! Looking forward to a bear hunt or two.
Stickflingers is one of my favorites! This is my off year. I go every other year and 2020 is my next trip. Lots of bears, big bears and many color phases.

Good hunting Mike. I fly to New Brunswick Sunday so it will be interesting to see how the bear action is in the different areas over the same time period.

Save me a big one Mike, I'll be there the first week of June.
Go gettem! :campfire:
I'm ready for some bear camp stories!!!!!
Hopefully week one stories will start rolling in soon...hint, hint.
waiting!!!
Got home from 1st week hunt this year at Stickflingers Sunday morning at 1:25 a.m.
It was a great time and all hunters had opportunities to harvest bears.
I saw a total of 42 bears in my week long adventures!
I was hoping to get a shot at a monster, so I watched bears come and go all week. I had a terrific looking boar come in on Wednesday evening, but he pulled the barrel over and laid down where I never had a shot opportunity.
I had 7 bears at the bait at one time on Friday on my last evening of hunting. Talk about fun! There were 4 cubs run up by bears in 3 trees at the same time and one was about 10 feet over my head in my tree! Between the sow that ran him up the tree and seeing me below him, he stayed up there for over 2 hours! I ended up seeing 17 bears on that last evening! One boar had a big white vee on his chest and I thought about harvesting him, but decided to let him continue to grow. He was a 6' plus bear, but up there at Stickflingers bears can exceed 7" and I am hoping to get one bigger than the one in my avatar (which ended up scoring 19 12/16 ). I look forward to returning again next year for more bear excitement! This is a great place for traditional bow hunters with people who know our requirements and share our interests!
That is awesome Mike. Glad you had a great time. Hope all the crew is well. Does he still have the two young kids around or have they moved on? Suspect the graduated a bit ago.
Take care - Dave
Great....any pictures???
good stuff there Mike
I am looking forward to next May to go back and try and kill a bigger one too.
Dave, you sure you don't want to go? :goldtooth:
I am going back in 2020. I believe I have the last hunt next year.

Here's a new friend dropping by while I was on stand. (actually a bigger bear ran him up the tree!)

He ran up the back of the tree and stand was on the front side. I looked over my shoulder and the little guy was about 12" away, so I hit selfie on my phone and got the picture.
I actually had this happen twice. The other cub was a little larger, but stayed above me in the tree for over 2 hours that time.[attachment=1]
Try again.[attachment=1]
Too cool...
What an adventure!
Mike that IS cool.
