Getting close on this one. All tillers and pulling straight. 43@28 perfect old man 3D bow. Liking the grain with dye in it.

Nice.
At what age do I have to start shooting old man bows? I'm a bit confused. Seems like Roy's been shooting them forever :goldtooth:
Looking good Stic.

If 43 is an old man's bow then I'm on the verge of dropping down to a kid's bow. :)
Nice.

Look good
Is the mottling on the non dyed wood from stabilizing liquid?
That is actually black dye. Just not very black.

Don't know what you are using for dye, but you should be able to get that Maple to at least a dark charcoal color with alcohol dye.
It is the black dye aluminite used in cactus juice resin. Both pieces are stabilized. And I have just sucked denatured alcohol with dye in it and it tints maple pretty good.
nice job!
Ya'll better quit picking on me or I'll get the thumpin list back out:)
Pretty near finish time. A little more tip shaping yet. I put the .001 superlam in this one. Moved the bend away from the fades maybe too much. Although it shoots great.

Very nice, Mr. Miller
Nice work! Love that color.
Tattoo Dave
Bet it's quick with the SL in it a little shorter lighter working limb ?
Well it seems pretty peppy.

Looks Good Brudder... Arrows are tight too... But can you do that from a 100 yds?? :goldtooth:
Me likey this one.
Really nice recurve you built here! I love that black/blue dye.
We can really see the superlam work in the full draw pic. What's you feedback on this ? Is the bow really smoother ? Any change in terms of vibration ?
Shredd after about 92 yrds. I fall apart :biglaugh: I got it where it is pretty quite. at 43 lbs. yeah pretty smooth. Got batteries charging now. Will do a vdo tomorrow is it is not raining.
Well I got to wait a couple of days now. I forgot I had to get injection in my shoulder. Drained a cyst and put some lidocaine and steroid in there. Watched everything on ultra sound.
Didn't happen wif out pictures:)
Hope ya heal up quick there Ole Timer...

Damn! That sounds brutal. Is it an overuse injury?
Yeah 43 years of pulling wrenches. Some of witch were torque wrenches. 300 lbs. was common and a few that went 600. Even had one engine that the mains torque to 1200 Ft. Lbs. needed a torque multiplier for that.
Nice choice on the colors that thing is a tack driver , Mike what's the length on that riser ?
17 in. on the riser and 60 in. overall bow.
The first one is the Thunderchild pretty sweet and I can see why a long draw on a short bow is possible.

Thanks for taking the time to do those videos
Any conclusions? One faster or smoother than the other?
43 pound bows are all pretty smooth. Both are plenty quick enough. And both are forgiving. The Thunderchild about a 12 in riser so a lot of working limb. You can see where there is a long draw potential in that bow. I think the 56 may be better suited for my draw.
That's really sweet!

Good One... Lol...
Yup shooting 5 yards takes its toll on an old fart.
That's 10 yards walking every round up and back to pull the arrows.
9 rounds and he's pooped out:)
I may have to break out my Indiana ironwood thumpin stick now. :biglaugh:
I'll bet it's old and brittle too....
:wavey:
Just old. :bigsmyl:
