Be honored to be a part. Plus, give me something to plan for in Feb during the "dead time" . Just send me the info on what I need to know and such.
Aaron
Yes Sir....we have two other guys interested as well that posted on another thread.
We're looking for a total of 10..... I think we're halfway there.... I know it's early but if anyone Is intrested please let us know.... We had such a great camp last year.... I want to see it again in 2020
I would be interested. FYI- Work for MHK in Northeast
GREAT!
Thanks so much for the emails folks..... We will be open to 10 members for this hunt according to the outfitter..... We have one got teetering on the dates.... about 3 or 4 openings left.... Post here or email me..... This is gonna be another great adventure for sure.
Count me in as well.
Finally, just cut and paste your e-mail and it showed up in my sent folder.
I'm interested. I guess I'll ask; what's the cost and when do you need the money?
I would be interested in this hunt also. I followed the thread on the last hunt. It was on the weekend on my state org banquet weekend. It it appears this is later in February next year.
I might be interested as well. Of course I have the same questions as Grumpyjim...
Guys 1st off I don't need the money..... The outfitter will need it..... I wanna think that the deposits to $250.... And the total cost is 750..... But don't hold that positive but a good guesstimate instead.
I will be able to give more details once the hunt dates are solid in stone... If you fly in is not far from the airport in Midland Texas (Odessa)
It will I'm sure be at like last year one javie and all the hogs You can Kill.
Can't wait for the specifics, last week in February will fit nicely.
We have firmed up our schedule commitments for 2020. We have reserved the week of February 23-27 for a Tradgang members hunt.
Plan on arriving in Crane, Texas on Saturday Afternoon February 22. your hunt will begin the next day on Sunday February 23 and run through Thursday February 27. Plan on departure by noon on Friday the 28th. If you are not Texan, you will need a Texas nonresident 5 day small game license that is available over the counter from any license selling agent in Texas for $48.50. (Walmart sells licenses) Have your license issued to begin on February 23.
Once you get settled in at the bunkhouse you will receive a lesson on navigation of the ranch. There are detailed arial photo maps of the entire ranch available with notations of every bait site. The hunting area is comprised of three large ranches in one vast tract of over 130,000 acres. You need to see it in the daylight to get your bearings when you arrive. This is the Permian basin oil patch, not exactly picturesque, but has some redeeming qualities in that it holds good sized javelina and hog herds. There are good solid gravel roads that provide access to the ranch. A 4x4 is not required to get around the ranch.
Primary game is feral hogs and javelina. There is no limit and no trophy fee on hogs, no rules about baiting, spotlighting, season dates, use of dogs etc. Come on down and hunt some pigs. Javelina are considered a game animal and must be hunted during daylight hours and we have a limit of one Javelina per hunter. Javelina season traditionally closes the last week of Februrary and in 2020 will be open through Feb. 25. If you want a Javy you will need to concentrate on hunting for them the first 3 days of your hunt. Rabbits, snakes, coyotes, bobcat, mountain lion, kotamundi etc. are in season if you are lucky enough to see them. 2019 was one of the best Javelina seasons we have had in the past 10 years. Our hog numbers were down a bit last year in response to the drought but there were still plenty of hogs to go around. There is abundant moisture this year and west Texas is about as green as I have ever seen it.
This hunt is kind of like a time share in a good hunting camp. We provide you with well established, baited sites at water holes on a big ranch. We run the baits, and tell you where the corn has been disappearing. We provide you with a comfortable bunkhouse with a bed, kitchen and a bathroom with a hot shower and flush toilet. We have good cleaning facilities, freezer space and abundant running water. We haul off the offal. You need to bring your bow, pillow, sleeping bag, bath towel, cooler, groceries and transportation and hunting license. This is not a white table cloth operation. This is a semi-guided hunting opportunity in a comfortable bunkhouse with everything you will need to have a good hunt. This hunt is $750 for a 5 day stay. We require a $250 deposit to hold your spot and balance due when you arrive.
Question is raised how many spots available? The ranch is vast and we run around 50 bait sites on the University and Looney ranches so there is no shortage of places to hunt. The bunkhouse has bunkbeds for 15, but that many people is a bit of a strain on the bathroom. If everyone gets along, no problem. I know we can safely take 10 without being too cozy. I have a mancamp in Wyoming that will comfortably house 6 with a separate kitchen and 2 additional bathrooms. We have permission to move this camp to the ranch in Texas. I am planning to transport this unit to the ranch in Texas and we will be able to take a few more guys. I will make every effort to get this camp moved by next January. Right now there is snow in Wyoming and we are not even able to get a transport truck and trailer there. I think we can take deposits: first come first served for beds in the bunkhouse, and have a waiting list until we do get some additional housing units established. You can send your deposit by regular mail to me at: John Berger 303 NE 70th Ave Ankeny, Iowa 50023
Your camp host is my son, Jacob. He has been running this operation for 10 years and probably knows as much about killing hogs as anyone that I know. He will see to it that you have as good of a hunt as you possibly can. You will have a good time on this hunt.
If you are wondering about something, ask here. Someone else probably would like to know as well.
Perfect ! And thank you !
If there is room on this hunt, I'd like to be added to the list of "Extraordinary Gentleman".....
We will have a great time.
I will be getting with everyone between now and Sunday who has emailed me... Or posted here.... Those of you should consider yourself in..
I'm not sure exactly when I will be able to get the deposit, but I'm confident that I will be able to. So, I'm gonna go ahead and say, "count me in!"

Sounds great, Terry. I really look forward to it. I've never hunted hog.
I sent my deposit off yesterday.
This sounds like a very cool experience and I loved following along in the thread for this year's hunt. If only I could make it work. I would love to try hog hunting.
BTW....Great to see so many jumping on this so early.....we will have a blast!!!!
For those of you that have never hunted hogs before please review the hog shot placement shield thread sticky at the top of this forum.... And study it hard.... That way when you get a chance you will have a very good idea of where exactly to aim.

I will be starting a private forum for this hunt soon....

Need a head count....want to start a forum for this hunt....
And, I think we still have an opening or two...
I'm in, Terry. I am cruising the web for flights to Midland. Just to double check -- We need to get to Midland airport on Saturday, February 22 and leave there on Friday, February 28. Am I correct?
Here ya go Joe....According to the man in charge.....
[attachment=1]
Oh...and Joe....maybe if you fly out if atlanta we can coordinate the same flight again.
I will be flying in from Baltimore-Washington Int'l
ok great....i want to start a forum so we can coordinate when everyone is coming and getting to the ranch...among other hunting stuff ass well....
I'm in!! I'll be driving from Missouri.
ok...i got wudstick, rick a, smokin joe, dnovo, RI Red, fattony, mike o,...
Hello Terry,
Regarding that February Texas Pig Hunt, I'll be driving in from the left coast. I drive a large flatbed crew cab with plenty of room in the event that someone needs to be picked up at an airport.
I had a question about the hunt ranch. Will it be OK if I brought along my quad? Some places have strong feelings about ATV's pro or con on their lands. I thought I'd ask first before ruffling feathers.
You might consider building that private chat room to exchange ideas about this hunt....
Mike
mike...you would need to contact the outfitter on the quad...that's beyond me.
I will say that I don't see a need for a quad at all.
Mr. Green; I just PM'd Missouri Sherpa and bowed out. I ran into a deal on a 2013 Toyota FJ with less than 45K miles, that is were my money went. Looking forward to the 3r Annual hunt.

If you need more time to read, I'm OK. If you feel a burning desire to send it back, I'll e-mail my address. Let me know.

HA! I answered the wrong thread!
Looking for a couple more!!!
I'm not putting Charlie on the spot.... But if he heals up Mr. Charlie lamb may be joining us.
That would be cool. I'd better go practice a little this morning.
Deleted
Charlie would be a good addition to the group.
How many spots are still available for this hunt? I just can't get last year out of my head and I couldn't get any dates for my group because they were booked.
I know we have two...please come join us....
I need to Call Jacob and get a head count.... :campfire:
Contacted Muke Creek.....got two openings....someone should jump on this!!!
Dave....long time since TX Sweat...you and your boy should come.
Very tempting. I hunted Crane with Curtis about 10 years ago. I wish I had the shooting skills then that I do now. It was a blast. Is there any chance a second Javier could be added for cost?
Yes
Come on guys....we would love a full camp....we eat REAL good too!!!
Sounds tempting Terry. I went to one of the real early Texas Sweat hunts years ago and had a great time. Just getting back to shooting without pain lately. If the timing were a bit different I'd have signed up myself and my son already.
I met you on that hunt Dave.....
Sure did. I've still got the arrow we all signed. I was trying to remember who all was there recently.
You, Curtis Keller, Charlie Lamb, Rusty Crane, Joe Coots, Lance Coleman (I think that's wrong.... The really funny guy who kinda invented the "nutter" arrows.) A guy from Canada who drove all the way straight through drinking full throttle energy drinks. He picked up myself and at least two other guys from Missouri. Doug Campbell was one, can't think of the other guys name... Massage Jeff Sturdevant?... and we all rode down in his big King ranch Ford. Somebody shot a badger,I think Lance. Joe slayed be a bunch of the giant bull frogs from the pond. I think we all got shooting at rabbits. Never saw so many in my life.
Any available spots left for this hunt?
Since I don't post on here very much and none of you know me personally, I guess I should have introduced myself first before asking about this hunt. My name is Jack and I have been a bow hunter since I was around 12-13 years old. I live in Oklahoma, from the northeastern part of the state, and have always wanted to hunt Javelina. I hunt mostly by myself around home on public land but would love an opportunity to spend a week around the camp fire and meet few new people to possibly hunt with. I am not as young as some of you, but I am in decent physical shape and will definitely do my part as a contributing participant in camp. I did spend a week in Colorado last year by myself camping and bow hunting, so I am physically able to do many things. My wife says that I have a laid back type of personality and I am a pretty personal type of guy. Not sure I could cut fire wood with an ax anymore, but give me a Stihl and I'll do my part. I am a pretty clean and organized type of person when it comes to camping or the bunk house.
Sounds like fun Papa. I went last year, and we had fun. Last I saw Terry posted there was still two spots. You could also get in touch with Mule Creek Outfitters. Hope to see you there.
YES....COME JOIN US!!
I sent in my deposit, so I will see everyone there.
Awesome!
I've got to pass. I hope you guys have an awesome time
As much as I hate to, I'm going to have to pass as well. My daughter has a huge soccer tourney in KC that weekend.
I'll have a head count posted this weekend but I know we can do one more...
Is there only one spot left? I think I talked a friend into going if you can take 2 more.
YES!!!!....Got two openings!!!
was wondering what the success and shot opportunities were last year on both hogs and javelina were? Is this part of Texas fairly warm this time of the year? Is there much water (ponds, creeks, etc) on the ranches? Are there locals that would take the meat as I would have to fly there. And would there be a spot for one person. Thanks
Is this hunt all full, I can't seem to get a response on my previous Post. Thanks
No this hunt is not fool I can't type right now I'm driving.
So sorry for the delay, I was on a little anniversary trip and am trying to catch up.
Joe and I had multiple stalks in Javies but no shots...also multiple hog encounters ....mostly at night and late afternoon.
I passed on a few wanting a color phase and I had one I shot that went off property and that land owner doesn't allow any teaspasing. Joe also has oppotynitues... opportunities.
Rck Alexander had some javies giving him fits everyday. This hunt was a blast even though it was a hunt full of 'almosts'...more so than any hunt I've ever been on.
Also encountered coyotes, bunny's, and a Mt Lion.
Yes, locals will take the meat.
Temps were comfortable except for the last night it dipped and was windy.
Yes...we hunt water holes and set up for night hunting as well....that's a blast....plus we stalk till lunch.
Come join us!!!
.

If there is room for two more count me and one more in.
I'll have an answer tomorrow sir.
Thanks for all the help/ info. Terry, spoke with John at Mule creek this morning and sent in my deposit. will . get with you after the holidays on what you have used in the past for rental vehicle for this ranch. Also do I bring food for myself or do we put money into the pot for groceries for group meals. Thanks again for arranging this hunt should be fun.
Yes or some of us will be arranging for pick up at the airport....... And what we did last year was put a $100 in the pot a piece and that last us almost a week..... Glad you're going look forward to it buddy.
