Title: Arm Guards
Post by: The Whittler on April 09, 2019, 08:42:52 PM
I have made a few leather armguards and would like to know if I should put a sealer on the backside. I use Tan-Kote or Resolene to seal the top can I use the same for the backside, something else, or nothing. Thank you.

Nothing on the underside of an armguard, it bleeds on to clothing, also leather that is completely sealed can't breath, it will start to rot and mildew from the inside, when exposed to excessive moisture.

A fella from Montana using "Montana Pitch Blend".... of course you do!!!  :wavey:

I use Montana Pitch Blend on my shooting glove and knife sheaths, but only on the top side of the arm guards i make...don't like it on the underside. Otherwise it's great stuff.

I use a Tim Roberts made arm guard and have for years. Follow his lead above. Tim knows what he is talking about.
