"Dark Timber" arrows are in! Seems like I've been talking about these forever. What they are is a wood grained finish, 5/16" carbon shaft at a very affordable price in spines and weights as follows:
340 = 10.1 gpi
400 = 9.5 gpi
500 = 8.5 gpi
600 = 7.5 gpi
700 = 6.5 gpi
800 = 6.0 gpi
The "Dark Timber"s are my own personal brand made by a reputable company for me. It has taken me over a year to get them how I wan't them.. and may still be minor changes in the future such as the graphics may change slightly and the length may change.
Right now, all lengths are 33"s long. In an effort to keep the pricing down, I may have to drop them to 32"s.
It's not about the amount of material, but the extra inch results in a higher percentage of shafts getting culled due to straightness.
WARNING!!! DON'T USE ACETONE ON DARK TIMBER SHAFTS!!!
Denatured alcohol is ok, but the acetone may smudge the finish.
I have been shooting these for 9 months now and have had not had any finish wear off at all. The shafts are consistent and very durable, but the pattern DOESN'T LIKE ACETONE!
Having said all that, if you were quick and used a light touch to remove the graphics, it may not hurt, but you have been warned.
The Dark Timbers have an inside diameter of .245. They will not accept the "Gold Tip" nocks and inserts. However, they will accept the brass inserts not made by Gold Tip... We have brass inserts that will fit these as well.
Also, the components are very reasonable as well.
Thanks, BigJim
Nice!
Do you have your own line of nocks and inserts for these shafts? What would I order for replacement parts?
Jim they look great. Nice to see so many sizes and that their 33". For sure should help with tuning. :thumbsup:
I bought a dozen of these shafts at Ky TradFest and I must say they look great. Jim, thanks for doing the graphics in a way that they are not gaudy at all but very attractive. :thumbsup:
Thanks, it was a long process but worth it.
I do have my own line of parts for these, but they will also accept bohning signature nocks and carbon express heritage nocks.
The brass inserts that have been available for years to use in standard 5/16" arrow will also fit...just not the GT inserts.
Thanks,BigJim

Thanks, BigJim
just placed my order :archer2:
What spine for a 54@28 Thunderchild?
Older TC than two years, either a 500, or possibly 400 long with weight. They should tune very similar to GTs
New TC... cut past center, 400.
Thanks, BIgJIm
Viewed these shafts at the KY Tradfest
Very attractive shafts.
OK, I'm impressed! :biglaugh:
Thanks Jim...at 29 bop I think the 500s might work.
Great video on the durability of these arrows. Thanks for posting it. I will be ordering some.
Jason
Awesome! Talking a guy at work into trying some .600's.
Neat video.
Jim, kept waiting for you to fall backwards into the pool----wouldn't have laughed :laughing:
Got some 600s at Tradfest.
We are getting a lot of good feedback on these shafts. I think you will like them.
Thanks, BigJIm
Looking forward to testing them !!!
Nice!!! So far all the GT blems I've broken, it's always been the back end split when I hit rebar or tree. Gonna need to build another batch of 500s soon. I assume since they don't take gold tip nocks or inserts that they also won't take Easton super nocks?
I'm pretty sure that the super nocks will fit. I will have to try them.
