Title: Bringing Precision and Adjustability to the Trad World
Post by: Jason W on April 08, 2019, 03:18:14 PM
TUFFHEAD and Ethics archery have teamed up to design and create a new component line for the trad shooter. There will be a pile of new products being introduced this year. Something for everyone!

This is great Jason,
Keen to try out the stainless insert/outsert combo on my buffalo/scrub bull set up.

Those of us who shoot wood already have precision and adjustability. It's done with sandpaper, Still, looks like a very good idea for carbon arrows.

That looks like some useful stuff. Can you hint at the weights and diameters of the glue in glue on adapters? I hate over diameter outserts so those open up a lot of possibilities.

I will be putting into inventory the Direct bond adjustable inserts by the weekend.

The head was made a tad longer and wider to fill out my wide long ferrule (that's what she said!) on my broadheads.

The complete insert is 200g. Has 2 cut notches. First cut gets you 175g. Last cut is 150g.

Sizes: standard .244/.245; .204, .165
Fits just about shaft out there.

We also added more footing sleeve options. 12 sizes in 2" and 3/4"

Glue-in-glue-on inserts in weights from 75 to 200+ gr. will be a terrific addition, especially if they fit the Tuff Head broad heads better than what is currently available.

I am really looking forward to seeing the new line up.

that last one is really only as strong as the smallest diameter shank where the end of the shaft would butt up to the taper.

if the rear most taper wasn't a taper but machined parallel to the diameter of the outside of the shaft it could then have a footing sleeve going from the back of the point taper as far back as you wanted. this eliminates the weak point of the internal shank that goes in the shaft itself.

but as i'm sure you already realise as a manufacturer, this would require lots of different sized models to suit the myriad of different shaft inside and out side diameters.

There will be this option. I am on last rounds of prototypes on this now.

Right. I need to create a "standardized" system to work with a lot of different shafts out there. However, your insert you have pictured is like you stole my design I am working on and prototyping now!!
Which would be available this summer.
I want to have good quality adapter/insert systems We at TUFFHEAD stand behind. And give the guys that shoot .165 to .245 shafts.

Also working on some great points and blunts as well. Can't do it all at once, so subscribe to the site and follow on Instagram for updates.

i showed it to the previous TUFFHEAD owner about 5 years ago. perhaps he 'remembered' the design. i'd graciously split the profit 60/40 .  :biglaugh:

making something that will fit most shafts is always going to be a compromise but you can't bring into production something to fit every combo out there you just wouldn't sell them all. that's just the nature of manufacturing.

that's why i played around with making a small run of exactly what i wanted for myself.

if you make one like mine to suit axis shafts internal diameter on the small shank and the outside diameter of axis 400 or 340 on the big shank with a 23/64" taper i'd buy a few. ;)

good luck, good to see a variety of good components to compliment the tuffheads.

Clint, hopefully you like one of the new offerings we will be introducing throughout the season.
Also, I am working on bringing TUFFHEAD to AU. Will make it a bit more affordable to the Aussies.

that would be great.  :notworthy: the exchange rate from US$ to AU$ is always a killer for us and shipping always seems to be expensive too.

Right! I have a good customer base in AU and I know the move I am making will help.
Should be all in place Jan 2020
