I have not shot the super D, but I do own a northern mist classic, with another one on order. Fantastic bows from a fantastic bowyer

I have had both.........The Super D is or leans to a more modern type of bow, The Northern Mist more of a classic longbow.......in my opinion. That being said, both are excellent fit , finish, and shoot great. It would just be personal taste as to which one someone would pick.

Both bows are great bows. The riser on the Super D is smaller and fits the hand more like most reflex/deflex longbows. The finish on both are about as good as they get. All the Northern Mist and Toelke bows I've shot are among the smoothest and sweetest I've shot.

The big difference is that the Super D you will get to you in about 6 weeks, and the Northern mist will take quite a bit longer.

You will enjoy either I suspect.

I would think if you were going to compare the Super D to the NM it would be against the Baraga or Superior as that's more of a design by NM that's similar to the Super D.

I have owned and shot both and absolutely love the Super D.  It is smooth as silk and spits an arrow out at amazing speed for a D bow. The grip is a lot smaller and it has a lot more reflex at the tips than most D bows. It will probably be the last bow standing if I fall on hard times!  Not meaning to take anything at all from the NM. They are very fine bows and the craftsmanship is top notch.

Both are good bows, but you're not going to beat a Northern Mist. His ASL models will outperform most r/d bows and his mild r/d bows are incredibly surprising. The Super D is closer to the Superior in design than an ASL. It can't touch a Superior in speed and cast though. I perfer the whip over the Super D.

I can't comment on a Toelke bow, but I have only heard positive things.

My experience with Northern Mist has been fantastic. Amazing quality, shoot-ability, customer service, value...incredible bows and bowyer.

Had a whip (sold it, kicking myself over it) and still own a superior but never shot a super D. Between the whip and superior it's a coin flip. Both are well mannered but I remember the whip was a little more still in the hand at the shot or maybe it's just me. The superior seems easier to tune for some reason. The customer service at NM is awesome and I'll never sell my superior like I did with the whip foolishly couple years ago.
I mostly shoot my recurved nowadays so take my opinion on longbows with a grain of salt

Northern Mist all the way. Without a second thought.

I had two different Super Ds (64" 47# and a 66" 55#) and wasn't impressed with either. The grips are small and round bellied and wallowed around in the hand, they had more shock than any of my Northern Mists, and they really didn't seem to like heavy arrows. I didn't find the speed that others seem to speak of either. They were very quiet, and very well made, but so are my Mists.

I realize I'm in the minority, but I just couldn't find a thing to like about the Super D other than being able to get one built in a hurry. But for the price of a basic Toelke, you can get a real over the top Northern Mist in a takedown.

The Super D was redesigned a few years ago.The one I had was the older version. The newer one has a little bit more reflex I do believe.I Have not shot the newer one.I heard the newer version was an improvement though from owners of both designs.
