Title: Tribe Archery riser/ stacking question
Post by: tcw on February 27, 2019, 10:23:39 PM
Hi all, I own a Tribe Archery "Halo" ILF riser and currently have #50 short TradTech limbs on it. Several people more knowledgeable than myself on ILF bows have expressed concern about it stacking on me. Here's the setup:

18" (says 17, but it measures 18) riser

23" Short Trad Tech Black Max 2.0 limbs

28" Draw

Short of making it to the bow shop next week, I don't have a scientific way of testing this for myself. But do any of you have experience with this set-up? I've got other limbs (lower poundage) in Medium and they for sure are not stacking - they feel and shoot great.

I have a Tribe X3 riser which is almost the same exact riser but the shelf is different. My draw is right around 28". I shoot it with medium limbs. I personally don't think I would like the feel with short limbs. Stick with medium limbs and I think you will be happier.

With your draw you should stick with medium limbs.

With a standard 17" ILF riser and short limbs your max draw recommended is 28".
My experience with the Halo riser is it's a plus riser, meaning the limbs weigh more then they should.

So that means the draw length shortens accordingly.

IMHO your friends are correct and you are stacking.

Thanks for the info, Wingnut. I went ahead and sold my "short" limbs and am in the market for Mediums now.

As for it being a "Plus riser" I feel like my experience is the opposite. It is actually an 18"+ riser and all my limbs have pulled lighter than the stated weight so far. My #45's are barely #40. I've wondered if the angle of the limb pocket is also a factor, but cannot get that info from the company...
