Title: Clicker keeps falling off bow limb
Post by: Ky longbow on February 15, 2019, 11:00:19 PM
So I just recently started using a clicker and I have had issues with the double sided tape coming detached from my bow after the shot. I had wiped down the spot where I placed the clicker with alcohol. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how can I prevent it from falling off other than tape? If I have to use tape I will, just wanted to see if anyone had an alternate idea

Double sided carpet tape, available from Walmart, placed over the sticky stuff that came on it, will probably work. It is also good for sticking on rests where the original sticky stuff has dried out. Frankly, I haven't had much luck with clickers. Other things seem to break as well, like the keychain pulling out of the place where it is attached. Good luck!

Yeah happened to me also. I eventually gave up the limb clicker idea and went with the side clicker (3rivers has them I think called sidekicker or sideklick ?) and never looked back. Felt more solid than the string one where the string makes a mess after the shot and if it doesn't click I start thinking maybe it just peeled off. The only down side is you need a plunger hole for it to work. I suppose you could use tape but I haven't tried.

Check out the Handy Clicker from LifeCycle Gear.  I've used limb mounted clickers for several years but now have taken them off all my bows.

I use the industrial strength double side foam tape. Be sure of your placement because it is hard to clean off if you move it. You can seal the edge of the foam with contact cement since it will dry to a non tacky finish, as long as you don't touch it with another cemented surface.

Also, you have to put the clicker on a non bending part of the bow. If you stick it to the middle of the limb for example, the plate will not conform and pop it off when the limb bends.

I also use double sided gorilla tape. Lowe's sales it. It will outlast the clicker blades. I have never had it come loose.

Flingblade, thanks for recommending the Handy Clicker.

It solves the problems associated with bow-mounted clickers.

Here is a video and you can find out more at www.yourLifeCycleGear.com and on our YouTube channel.

If you stick with a limb-mounted clicker, I recommend using high quality double-sided tape and wrap tightly with electrical tape under the spring steel tab.

I buy and use the 3m double sided tape from the auto section at Walmart.  Got plenty if you want to swing by, we'll get you sorted out.

Good double-sided tape and a couple wraps of tape around the upper and lower parts of the clicker, wrapping the tape completely around the limb. It's not going anywhere! And replace the chain with cord. No sense in trusting a small chain when you can use something much more reliable.

All good advice above. I would add, make sure you have it properly adjusted. My first install came off because I didn't have it adjusted properly. No problems now.

If you're using alcohol, good double-sided tape and it's still coming off, then make sure that the metal plate is bent to the shape of your limb.  If your limb is bending back (either at brace or at draw), concave, while the plate is straight, then it can pop off.  I give mine a very slight bend to match the shape of the limb or riser where it's mounted.

3M 30 pound foam tape works great.
