What do you do to tolerate the temps?
-9 right now here with wind chills about -25 to -35,. Tomorrow-40 to -50.
seriously Charlie. -18 here going to get to -30 not including windchill.
:knothead: :campfire:
Season is closed, so only in my mind... :bigsmyl:
I was hoping to shoot a few rabbits this week. However, my fell on a steep driveway covered with ice and it now 10 below with 37 mph wind. I let my old cocker spaniel out to pee. She came back in the house with a peecicle.
Stay warm, Charlie! Don't go out needlessly :campfire:

Deer season is over here, of course, except in some municipal CWD areas. Was hoping to get out for bunnies this week. Not going to happen. Guess I'll just stay in and make a few more arrows.
About 5-6 years ago we had a very cold snap similar to this and I went out and shot one. It was only -15. On the drag out I burnt my lungs causing me to get pneumonia instantly. If you guys do go out be sure to keep your air way covered at all times no matter how over heated you may get. The plus side is that they will be moving. Even more so the day the weather breaks about noon.

Am working Jim Castro's target panic solution in my basement. Can't let any arrows fly for a while yet.
Cyclic-Rivers, I seem to remember a post by you about the Rib Mountain Bowmen's indoor shoot earlier this month. I was there, myself. The weather was much better then, ya think?
Stephen
I was out last night. They were moving. Will be back out on Friday they should be moving then also.
Charlie, put some coffee on and chase the wife around the kitchen table. To cold for anything else........ :biglaugh:

Ice fish. Running back and forth between tip ups helps.

-9 here now going down to -24. I am sure glad the forecast for Saturday is in the upper 30's for my winter shoot. I hope a lot of people have cabin fever by then and make it to the shoot. It was -23 last Saturday when we set up the outdoor range so upper 30's will be t shirt weather.
Hey Charlie, Bob Daigle said he was coming, maybe he has room for you.
Charlie are you off your meds again?
LOL
Lol everyone. Sorry I missed you Stephen, it sure was much nicer then.
Sorry Greg, I am not able to make this one.
These temps had me thinking about Fred bears polar bear hunt, figured others would be just as crazy
Supposed to have windchills down to -40 here tomorrow. All classes were cancelled. Was thinking of trying to go fishing or even stumping but if it's going to be that bad, I may just stay here and read a book or something.
We are supposed to hit about -20 with the wind chill.
I'm trying to decide if I'm tuff/dumb enough to attempt a hunt. Only five days left :o
If I do, I'll probably dig out my old waterfowl gear. Including parka and the neoprene chest waders with woolies over top. Just the thought of sitting in a tree stand in chest waders seems a little crazy.
I'll have to do a test in the yard tomorrow to see if I can even shoot with that much bulk on.
-50 wind chills the next day or two ..the us post office canceled deliveries and worse...even the Bars are closing....
-20 with -41 wind chill right now.
-26, 50 below windchill and colder tomorrow, no playing outside :biglaugh:

Don't do it, trust me. Your bow string will freeze at full draw. Then you'll have to pry the frozen arrow off the shelf, carry the bow home still at full draw and set it next to the wood stove. When it finally thaws out it'll dry fire. :scared:
Seriously, stay safe and warm everybody. The cold air will be hitting northern NY tonight. :campfire:
Last week of season here in ohio plan on hunting fri morn and Saturday morn and evening if possible. way to cold right now and Thursday 30 below wind chills with 20 mph winds.
I guess it could be done but doesn't sound like much fun to me.
After carrying mail for years in weather like this (NW MN), I don't much care to be out in it now. I know how to dress to stay warm in extreme cold, but I don't think I'd enjoy it, or shoot that well.
Only -23 (-51 with the wind chill) here in northern Illinois. Think I have better things to do than freeze my butt off. Did that/done that when I was a kid growing up in northern Minnesota, young and stupid. For those of you that do go out, dress warm and be careful!
-55 wind chill here. I'm not even going out to get the mail today !!

There is no mail here today anyway. They canceled mail delivery because of the cold. It was -28 still at 8:30 this morning. I think we are supposed to have a high of -15. I don't even want to talk about the wind chill. :help:
I will be hunting though...for another cup of coffee! :coffee:
Ron P that was funny!
