I stopped at Kettle Moraine Hardwoods in Slinger, and they happen to have a bunch of laminations for sale fairly cheap. The story I got was that they were from some bowyer's estate. The good news is they are $4 each for osage and a few exotics, and actionwood (I think that's what it is - laminated laminates). $2 for domestics, like maple and elm. The bad news, you will have to sort through them to get matched pairs, and nothing is marked. I made a second trip with calipers to get a few pairs. Maybe I'll get lucky and actually make a decent bow with them.
I'll stop by Caledonia tomorrow with caliper. Post if I find any goods
Makes me wonder if there from John Gerardi, the Old Master Crafters estate. I know I got some from his brother Tom a few years ago after John passed and they were trying to liquidate everything but there was a whole wall rack full of them. If they are from John there precision made.
Caledonia store closed today. Check again Thursday
Caledonia store had only a couple "lams"
Nothing to get excited about. They do have a nice selection of most exotics
A little of what I was able to scrounge, a few osage tapers, a couple of osage parallels, the actionwood tapers, and some maple tapers. Not pictured, some elm parallels. Maybe the bulk of what they had was in Slinger. Could be the guy was local to this area, and they didn't think it was worth while to split them between stores?
That's a good find
