Had pics of a nice bobcat throughout the season and one just a week ago. Was hunting a hidden ¾ acre forage oats field on a ridge top adjacent to the wet bottoms. The forage oats had reached 23"s tall this fall and the deer had mowed it down to approximately 4"s. I had been hunting that afternoon hoping for a goodin to step out this late season and to possibly harvest a doe for Shed Hunter, who was with me in the blind. I noticed movement to my left and immediately backed away from the shooting window. I communicated to Shed Hunter that a yearling was approaching. Shed Hunter had direct line of sight and said it was a bobcat. He was stalking a cardinal which was 15 yards directly in front of the blind. A respectable shot execution was made and the Tree Shark nearly cut him in half. Thought I was going have two check in two bobcats. He didn't go far.
Have longed for a shot opportunity at a bobcat for over 30 years. Only two shot opportunities have ever presented themselves but were both before the bobcat season started.
There has been abundant gratitude incurred for having been blessed with a gifted unexpected special opportunity.

Good shooting! They are such neat looking animals.
Well done!!
Good job, Scott...!! :notworthy:
Congratulations that's a rare trophy with a bow. Cat meat is very good eating by the way. :saywhat:
Congratulations. A bobcat is a very rare stick-bow trophy.
Had a great opportunity for a bobcat early in November but unfortunately the season did not come in until December 1. Had to pass on a 5 yard shot. One animal I've always wanted to take with my bow. Congrats on your success and thanks for sharing. I'm jealous. :campfire:
Good looking cat and a heck of a traditional trophy.

That is very special! Great looking shot..... looks like you almost halved him with that treeshark!
that is a cool outcome...congrats.
Beautiful cat. And yes, they are elusive. They get a pass at my place for some of the same reasons that you mention. Their numbers are low enough that they aren't frequently seen, and the hogs, coons, and coyotes are a much bigger problem. Had this one at 7 yards last weekend, bow in hand, but it was 40 by the time I got my phone sorted out.

Thank you gentlemen....
The coveted opportunity was purely a surprise gift.
The bobcat will be honored with a very nice mount. He is already with my trusted and skilled taxidermist who has mounted over a 100 bobcats. Moved into a new home on the farm in September. The bobcat will be the 1st addition to the greatroom which is reserved for harvested quarry from the farm.
Nice Bobcat ! :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:

Congratulations, great shooting!
I almost got a shot at one last weekend.
He was slipping through about 50 yds away. I started lip squeaking at him, and he turned towards me.
He got within 30 yds and locked up. I guess he realized the squeak was coming from 20 ft up a tree and lost interest.

Nice Trophy Scott! Congrats.
Large Predator 1 - Small Predator 0
dear gawd it looks like a hatchet wound!!! that's a tough one to beat though I've been in the woods for 41yrs and I've yet to see a single bobcat,,, saw a porcupine once and saw a albino coyote once but still trying to spot a bobcat before my time here is done...
Nice trophy. Very nice shot !
Wow!! Congratulations on a very special trophy!!
Congrats! Awesome shot on a small target!
Congratulations, beautiful cat.
Well done Scott on a beautiful animal
Congratulations, pretty special... :clapper:
Chances for them don't come around often. Apparently we have enough of them in our NW Iowa county to be included in the bobcat season. My son called one in with a deer call down in the Loess Hills and had to pass, no fur bearing permit. I have seen mountain lions around here, but only the tracks of a bobcat one time.
Nice bobcat. There are a lot here in Missouri, but I have only seen 3 and never during the season.
I see them now and again in the Manistee National Forest in Northern Michigan. They sometimes see me too. They appear to like squirrels for dinner near my stand.

Was quite pleased to see large kitty tracks in the snow this passed Monday.
Certainly am hopeful that I don't have to wait another thirty years for a shot opportunity.
Congrats! I took my first cat this year as well. Such cool animals.
Well done sir! :clapper:
Only ever saw two, both while hiking trails in PA. Beautiful creatures.
Nice shot on the bobcat. I have only had one chance on one and missed it.
Quite the trophy. Good shot too. Congrats.
