I'll be retired and a bit more flexible, so I'll see about coming up for this shoot.
I will be there. My first vend ever with TUFFHEAD.
So be nice guys! :biglaugh:
Plan on being back again this year. Its nice having an event like this close to home.
What constitutes a mechanical rest, would a stick on or simple scew in flipper rest be allowed as long as there are no moving parts?
Always look forward to this one. I don't make it every year but try to. I love this shoot.
Justin, We are working on the rules now and should have them finalized by the end of the week. I will post when they are on our web-site. Thanks!
New rules and Shoot format have been sent to our web-master. Should be up soon.
Traditions Leathercraft is planning on setting up this year!
Spent almost ten years in Terre Haute and never heard about this shoot. Now I'm in Texas and really want to go. Fingers crossed.
Glad to have you KC!!!! The new rules were sent to the" web-site guy" on the 3rd. so just waiting on the site to be updated. We did add a class in the Men's and Women's divisions. It hopefully will fill a gap between the recurve, longbow, classes and a RU type class. I don't want to get into all the details here and hope they are posted on our site SOON. cloverdaleconservationclub.org
Website has been updated. cloverdaleconservationclub.org
I see modern traditional had been added but im not seeing a description of what exactly that is. Do you care to elaborate the requirements for the new class
Never mind that post i found it, was just looking in the wrong place
Ok, We may try to get it changed around some to make it simpler to navigate in the coming weeks. Thanks

It's been 3 years since I've been to Cloverdale for various reasons. It's a great course and the hosts bend over backwards to make this a great shoot. I put in for vacation early and it was approved so I plan to be there this year. Really looking forward to it.
Great! I thought I hadn't seen you in a while. You any better lookin than you were? :-)
Nah. Just older and a little more round.
Me too!
Well it's Spring! Next it's Mushrooms, Turkey Season, then the Cloverdale Nationals!!

I have only been to one national shoot..... Cloverdale 2003..... Loved it!!!
They do a great job and it seems to get better every year!
Just talked to Otis and Zipper Bows will be at the shoot!
I'm looking forward to it.
It will be good to see you again Chad!. If you have one of your new static recurves in a lefty I would love to try it!
I would sure like to see more left handed bows. There never seem to be many to try at most shoots--unless the bowyer is a lefty and then they understand the problem we lefties have.

Just got back from the Tennessee Classic and" Wow" what a GREAT shoot!! Those guys do a fantastic job! Now we have our own work to do getting ready for Cloverdale. Hope to see a bunch of the same guys and gals! Work, work, work.......
They just published my work schedule and I am officially off thet weekend. Gonna make the Howard Hill Classic and Cloverdale! Can't wait.
Good Deal Jim!!
I've noticed at some shoots people shooting the self-bow class with carbon arrows. I hope wood arrows are required in the self-bow class. Carbon arrows seem to give an unfair advantage. Just my opinion on the matter, don't crucify me!
That's in our written rules. :goldtooth:
Thanks.

Coming up quick!!
Man I hate to miss this shoot again this year, but with my wife's hip surgery and moving our family to a new home this past weekend I just don't feel like I can be away from home that long.
Best of luck to everyone that is going!

Will be there in the morning....
Bunches of great vendors this year! I should've taken pictures in the tents! Shot the course pretty good with my '59. Lemme tell ya it's not easy getting pictures leaning your phone up. I've gotta get that phone stand Johnny had at 3 Rivers! Looks to be perfect. Hope the rains hold off today for everyone!

I did not make there this year. Anyone that went there, please give a report how it went.
Heard it was a great course and good time, gonna have to make it up one of these years. Heard the vendors had it rough, but I guess that's how it goes.
It was a great shoot! Hadn't been for a few years but I was impressed with the amount of vendors, the quality of the vendors, the turnout, and as always, the hosts. This has become one of my "must attend" events. Thanks to the people that make it happen.
How did the vendors have it rough? Not enough business or what? I was there and visited all the vendors and didn't hear any complaints.
My lookers where few and far between. Seemed to to me the attendance was down. Only had one person shoot any of my bows. But lots of complements on craftsmanship.
Very nice and accommodating venue....it appeared that relatively few took advantage of the opportunity to enjoy it.
Was impressed after running numerous arrows thru a JK Traditions bow. Was spot on from the beginning...quick, accurate, nice craftsmanship and very pleasant shooting experience.
Big Jim's setup was outstanding...picked up another special Mountain Monarch...i
am in heaven.
Black Widow's bows were quite tempting
Many nice vendor's there
Rumor has it between Black widow, Zipper, Holm made, blacktail and one other (maybe Crooked Stic?) only 1 bow was sold. If we don't support our bow builders they will have no reason to go to shows...
I had a great time meeting and talking to everyone again. The Cloverdale club does a great job. Vendors can't really complain because the club does not charge a fee.
This year was slower than normal for me, and I saw very few kids. Maybe the weather was so nice, everyone did more shooting than normal and weren't as interested in the vendor tents. Lots of old guys walking around, though. We need some new blood in the game.
Chuck
To all those who attended this years Cloverdale Traditional Nationals, a big "THANK YOU" from all of us here. We really appreciate all the compliments we got throughout the weekend!! A special Thank You to Blacktail Bows, Selway quivers and Rhino Products for donating to this years Traditional Bow Package Raffle!! We will continue to try harder each year to make this a shoot you won't want to miss. I will have the scores up as quick as I can.
We had a great time. Brought a guy who has never been there and he's already talking about next year. Good vendors although there's not a lot I need any more. Great range setup. Really enjoyed it.
It was a very nice event and a great course to shoot. Well done everyone at Cloverdale for putting on a nice shoot.
I agree with Chuck, we need to start recruiting more young blood in this sport.
Thanks for all who stopped by to say hi.
Next stop, ETAR
We had a great time this year for sure! Just because someone didn't actually walk away with a new bow, doesn't mean that a bow wasn't sold---I know one guy that test drove a Black Widow and likely will be ordering one soon as a result.
Vendors were very gracious and helpful. Hats off especially to Jason from Tuffhead who spent a great deal of time with us.
Jason is a true gentleman and class act with a great broadhead in the TUFFHEAD!
I had a great time at Cloverdale. It has been about 7 years since I've made this shoot. This was my first time camping. I got lots of compliments on my camper. A big thanks to the guys who put in the hard work to make this shoot happen. I thought the course was great. The shots didn't seem out of my comfort range this time. I was impressed with all of the vendors. I made the rounds several times and bought what my limited budget would allow. I would have bought one of those small elk targets from Big Jim but I couldn't afford it.
I'm going to say that unless it was discounted at a show I probably wouldn't buy a new $1000+ bow off the rack unless of course it was exactly what I wanted. However they all had some knock dead gorgeous bows! If I had more time I would've shot all of them, but only could a couple. Sure liked this PCHX. Made me put my other bow up for sale when I got home LOL.

Matthew good on you for supporting American made bowyers. There are a lot of price ranges out there that are good. Kinda like cars most run great and get you where you want to go. And some are fancier than others. Then it depends on your wallet size as to what you choose.
