My son gave me for Christmas 1/2 dozen
Gold Tip Traditional classic 500 arrow shafts. They are the ones with exterior footing. I normally shoot aluminum. I shoot a stalker Wolverine, cut past center,FF string ,and 51#'s @27. I pull 27 inches. So after all that what your suggestion for the length that I would need these shafts cut? I want to shoot 150 grain heads ,but only because I have a bunch of them. I'm trying to get the length close as I would have to drive to have the shafts cut. Thanks for any and all answers
I think those shafts should work out very well for your setup. I also think 150 grain points/broadheads are a good choice. The problem is, given that you already have the shafts and want to use 150 grain points, that only leaves length to fool around with. The second problem is, how are you going to know when you have the right length? Are you going to bare shaft tune? Usually when you bare shaft tune based on length, you start full length and cut off a half inch at a time. If you want to bypass all of this, just have them cut the shafts to 29" and don't worry about it until you get into bare shaft tuning. 29" can't be that far off.
Good advice from McDave and remember you can't add length after it's been cut off.
Have him buy you an arrow saw for father's day.[emoji16]
