15 years old this year. She had a great life and nice thanksgiving this week with lots of people feeding and petting her. She couldn't hang on any longer and passed away after spending the day in her bed with my wool hunting vest keeping her warm.

So sorry, Tedd.
I understand..
So Sorry bud.. It is always so tough but just know she lived a long and fulfilling life!
So part of the family. Time will heal.
So sorry for you and family. We lost our Dog back in April and it still hurts. Hopefully time will help. There is nothing like the loyalty of a dog.

So sorry for your loss. We lost our yellow lab Molly back in June. We miss her everyday. Just know that you gave her a good life and that she loved you and gave you unconditional love.
Im sorry. Been there many times. Ur memories will always keep her alive.
So sad.
Sorry Tedd, I remember reading post about her and she is one of the dogs that influenced me to get Ximo.
Sorry to hear that.

She loved to lay on top of your Christmas presents.
15 is a long life. My dog is laying in my lap as I watch the Clemson game. All 92lbs of him.
Condolences
It's always amazing how pets become to mean so much to us.
Sorry for your loss Ted. I remember your posts about how she guarded her prize. I took the morning off to take ours to the vet. Chf, I dread the day. Prayers for you and family
It's very hard to lose a four legged child. So sorry for your loss.
Sorry for you loss. They give so much and expect so little. Pure little souls.
We lost Jake, our Kerry Blue Terrier, last year to bone cancer. Absolutely tears your heart out. A hole that can never be filled.
But, being fools, we now have an eight month old Airedale that is chewing us to pulp.
Remember the good times.
QuoteThe Power of the Dog
Rudyard Kipling, 1865 - 1936
There is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and Sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.
Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie—
Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart for a dog to tear.
When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet's unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find—it's your own affair—
But ... you've given your heart to a dog to tear.
QuoteDINAH IN HEAVEN
by Rudyard Kipling
She did not know that she was dead
But, when the pang was o'er,
Sat down to wait her Master's tread
Upon the Golden Floor,
With ears full-cock and anxious eyes,
Impatiently resigned;
But ignorant that Paradise
Did not admit her kind.
There was one step along the Stair
That led to Heaven's Gate;
And, till she heard it, her affair
Was -- she explained -- to wait.
And she explained with flattened ear,
Bared lip and milky tooth--
Storming against Ithuriel's Spear
That only proved her truth!
Sudden -- far down the Bridge of Ghosts
That anxious spirits clomb--
She caught that step in all the hosts,
And knew that he had come.
She left them wondering what to do,
But not a doubt had she.
Swifter than her own squeal she flew
Across the Glassy Sea;
Flushing the Cherubs everywhere,
And skidding as she ran,
She refuged under Peter's Chair
And waited for her man.
* * * * * *
There spoke a Spirit out of the press,
'Said: -- "Have you any here
That saved a fool from drunkenness,
And a coward from his fear?
"That turned a soul from dark to day
When other help was vain;
That snatched it from Wanhope and made
A cur a man again?"
"Enter and look," said Peter then,
And set the Gate ajar.
"If I know aught of women and men
I trow she is not far."
"Neither by virtue, speech nor art
Nor hope of grace to win;
But godless innocence of heart
That never heard of sin:
"Neither by beauty nor belief
Nor white example shown.
Something a wanton -- more a thief --
But -- most of all -- mine own."
"Enter and look," said Peter then,
"And send you well to speed;
But, for all that I know of women and men
Your riddle is hard to read."
Then flew Dinah from under the Chair,
Into his arms she flew --
And licked his face from chin to hair
And Peter passed them through!

Sorry for your loss
Always hard when you lose one. Like one of your own. Cannot be replaced. Doesn't have to be. The joy of a new friend and a new start is very rewarding. Has always helped my wife and I, even when we didn't think we could. Do not forget, but it has always helped me when the emptiness sets in. Sorry for the loss. Dennis
very sorry for your loss that only another dog lover could fully comprehend.
we are not dog owners, we are their caretakers, we are all family.
dogs are special creatures of unconditional love and devotion, no matter what.
we miss them forever when they depart.

Exactly, Rob
My little man, Pheasant lived to be 17 years old.
He was an English Pointer.
I cried like a baby when he passed away.

Very sorry for your loss. I know, it's difficult.
A dog can be such a friend. Only those who have had and loved a furry friend can understand your loss. It truly is the loss of a family member.
Sorry to hear it Tedd...just keep thinking about all those good times and the good life you helped her enjoy for the past 15 years.

Sorry to hear of your loss.

My thoughts are with you. I lost my English Springer Spaniel at 15. My Curly is now 10 and my tracking dog. He will probably be the last of my dogs. I'm getting too old to start again and leave one behind.
They do bring a fullness to your heart that I can't imagine another animal providing.
I'm so sorry for your loss of such a great friend.
I feel your pain and sorrow...my favorite furry partner died in my arms 14 years ago on 11/24/2004 and I still remember the good times we had and the heartbreak I felt when he died.
Very sorry for your loss.
My condolences...
Best cure for loosing your dog, go get a puppy...
Attached photo is my girl Elsa... Got from a fellow Tradganger from off this site...
Sorry for the loss Tedd. We just put our male down at 13 years old due to bone cancer. It's a brutally hard thing to have to do. They are truly special friends.
So sorry for your loss, they aren't pets, they are family. My wife and I have a black lab named Molly, she will be 2 on Christmas day, we also have a yellow lab Cooper that will be 7 in February. They mean the world to us. I also cried like a baby when we had to put our chocolate lab down at 5 due to lymphoma, and his sister at 13. They are always with us and a part of us.
Jason
Sorry about your loss. Dogs give so much more than they take. Boy, Mollie sure was sure guarding that deer!
:pray: so sorry for your loss.
Sorry sir
Sorry for your loss
So sorry for the loss of Molly.
Thanks everyone. This is from a scouting hike. We weren't sure if the dog was tired or faking it! But she wanted to be carried out.

So sad for you my friend. My eyes cloud up just reading this. My best buddy will be 12 in a few months and starting to slow down a lot.
So Sorry for your loss. Molly sounds like she was boon companion.
Like others have posted here, we have all loved and then lost our dogs to a variety of maladies, including old oage. And yet, for all the heartache that we know comes from losing one's canine companion, we just know we will do it again.
Looks like she was a real pal... blessings!
