I have been working a trade for my Cascade Mountain Longbow Skookum. I was asked if it was pre-stressed. How can I tell whether it is or isn't?
The best thing would be to check with Fred himself...get it straight from the horse's mouth. I believe he glued up the lams on one form and then in a second operation he glued up the glass on a different form to create more pre-stress in the limbs. I don't know if he always did that though so best ask him.
I think David is close in his assessment.I had one that was prestressed and I think that was kinda how Fred explained it to me.They were glued up differently. Its been awhile though since that conversation. So the details are a bit fuzzy.
The one I had was kinda rare in that it had a carbon core lamination..Man that was a beautiful bow!!!Would have kept it if I was richer.True heirloom.
