Title: Arrow Building Adhesives
Post by: 4dogs on November 09, 2018, 01:13:19 PM
Well, I need to restock my adhesives. Been years since I have had to buy new glues. What is working for you guys now?  I am going to need fletching and insert glues for carbons. Thanks for the help.

I like the goldtip glue for inserts, but use tape for fletching.  Seems everytime I need fletching glue, it is dried out and have to make a trip into town.  Don't have that problem using the tape.  I have had great success with it and never have had a feather come off.

Lots of answers available here. These days I use Saunders NPV glue for woods, aluminum and carbon. I have also used Locktite Super Glue and Gorilla Super glue, usually for repairs. Lots of folks like tape, had conversation with a gentleman here about tape and do's and don'ts about it. Yes it works but I had issues with it in our summer heat.
As for inserts, lots of folks like low melt stick glue like Big Jim carries. Prep is important no matter what you use.i use golf shaft epoxy, it's somewhat shock resistant and permanent. I live where I can get most of my needs at the store or I can buy online if not in a hurry.

If you want to go over the top, 24 hour 2 part golf club epoxy is the best I've ever used for carbon inserts.

Big Jim's Quick Stick hot melt is the best insert glue on the planet!!!

I still use Fletchtite Platinum for my feathers with zero issues.

Have had very good results with Fletch tape for nearly twenty years, no complaints. Lately have tried DAP Rapidfuse and really like it for something that can be picked up at the hardware store.

On carbons I do this and use a wrap for fetching to grab, sometimes clear wraps

Big Jim's insert glue and gorilla glue control gel with blue lid.

That platinum glue. I have had some issues. You have to buy fresh and use it up. You buy older stock from store or open it n then use it later it don't seem to work as good. Had some trouble with that stuff.

I have tried about all of the fletching glues they all seem to work. Recently started using duco cement on carbon, wood and aluminum shafts seem to work as good as anything  and easy to find at most hardware stores. I use slow set epoxy on all inserts

I just use Loctite super gel. It works really well. Never had a feather come off and it holds the inserts in well.
