No kiddos, you won't be getting any pictures with this short story. You'll have to use your imagination.
Climbed into a nice brushed in ladder stand around 4:00 pm. Immediately saw deer moving in the distance.
I pulled out my Louis L'Amour and started reading. By 4:30 some fawns had moved in and bedded down near my stand.
Nothing relaxes deer like other deer bedded. By 5:00 I see a nice mature doe working my way. I'm not a fan of shooting them, but my niece had asked for some venison.
The doe strolls passed at 10 yards and I loose an arrow for a clean pass through just behind the shoulder.
She jumps and runs through the open woods behind me and stops on the logging road about 50 yards away. I watch as she wobbles a bit then topples over.
A nice easy clean kill with another hour of daylight left to field dress and head home.
It just doesn't get any better than that. :coffee:
That is a good hunt. Daylight left to clean and some fine meals for the freezer. Good job.
