Forgot to take out of pocket and got ran through the washer. Are they toast or they ok?
My dad was right - life's tougher when yer stoopid
Tim B
Try them and see. They might be ok. I would think a dryer cycle would be worse for them.
As an aside,I have a helluva time keeping SD cards functional. Any brand you guys are using that work well? I end up with a drawer full that won't work, but I'm paranoid to throw them out because I'm not sure what is on them. I don't think they are made for the wide temperature and humidity swings that trailcams put them through.
LMAO..
Reminds me of the time I ran my wallet through the washer.
Poof, all vehicle owners cards gone and insurance card gone.
Talk about laundering money:)
Your dad and my dad were right, Tim.
Ya I have a lotta examples to prove it Roy lol
Roger I been using the red white and blue colored cards from Walmart with no issues. My cards were in a small ziplock that leaked so they got wet and stayed wet haha
Tim B
Throw them in a ziplock with some rice for a few days. The rice will absorb any moisture. You may lose the pics on them, but cards should still be functional.
I'm a retired newspaper photog. I laundered more SD cards than I can remember. They should be fine. Try the baggie/rice thing after patting them dry. Test them before using of course. Sandisk is highly rated.
One day I was clearing sticks and such out of the creek that flows through my place and the leather wallet I carry all my SD cards fell out of my pocket and took a trip down stream. Took me half an hour to find it. I laid the SD cards on the hood of the Jeep in the sun for half an hour. They have all worked great since. I use the Scandisk SD cards from Staples.
Best Regards,
JMC
Mine got washed and then ran through the clothes dryer. It's working right as we speak.
No problem when mine got wet also.
Roger, try cleaning the leads with alcohol when cards won't read.
Thanks guys - they packed in rice!
Tim B
I've done the same thing, once dried they will be fine.
I've lost some for a month in the woods and they still worked fine.
Now I lost my zip pouch full of cards in a cut corn field 3 years ago. The farmer sent me a pic this summer of a torn and tattered pouch asking if it looked familiar, cards still in it unharmed :scared:
I will check them out when I make the trip north to Kansas in a couple weeks :biglaugh:
I had chickens for several years. I had a camera set up on the pen to see what predators were coming around. I apparently dropped a card while changing out the camera, and didn't notice it. I would let the chickens out during the day to free range. A while later I was hosing out the inside of the chicken house, and found a card, label gone. I washed it off, and I'm still using that same card now, years later. I refer to it as "old faithful". It still functions after going through a chicken, so I think yours will be all right. :biglaugh:
Predators eventually ate all my chickens, and I gave up on keeping them.
Don, I'm not touching that one..
LOL
Roy, I had misgivings, but I had to find out if the card still worked! I washed it with soap and water, figuring I couldn't hurt it at that point.
