Sunday morning I rattled in two different does. The first one came 200 yards across a field in low light to investigate. Hung around twenty minutes at 30 yards down wind, scanning for the the fight.
The next doe came after rattling a second time, on edge, down wind, searching for twenty five minutes to see the fight. This do came to with in 10 yards, pacing back and forth in the field, scanning the woods edge and then go back to 30 yards. This sequence repeated 7 to 10 times, come to 10 yards then go back to 30 yards. She was convinced there should be two bucks fighting.
I have never rattled in does. I have never rattled this early in season though. Has anyone rattled does in?
Never rattled in does but I have had them charge in several times while I was blowing on a predator call
I've had guys that I've hunted with tell me they've had the same thing happen
I've had that happen several times, does are nosey and they like a good fight. They are also showing you what a good percentage of bucks do, but farther out where you can't see them.
Double teaming with the hunter set up downwind of the rattler/caller can get pretty interesting.
just like a woman :biglaugh:
I don't rattle much, but I rattled in does twice with a rattle bag. First time there were five together, they all came under my stand, finally shot one. The second time she came in alone from the west and when she was almost close enough, she saw a spike to my east and came in close enough for a shot. Both were killed stickbow close, but it was before I had a stick in my hand....
Likely a dozen times over the passed 30 years.
