I would like to honor all the Tradgang members that have gone on. We've lost quite a few since our Establishment in March of 2003.
I have a lot going on...but can think of these fine men at the moment...
Chris Surtess
Israel Roman
Andrew Harper
Dean Torges
'Black Hawk' (can't find him in the search for some reason, and his real name has slipped my mind. So, if anyone can tell me his name I'd sure appreciate it)
If anyone can please add to this list of any fallen TradGang members I'd sure appreciate it. We will set aside a place to add them, and members can contribute any stories or memories they had of them.
Thanks,
:campfire:
Can't help with names but want to thank you for making a place for them. As I age and my friends age I find myself looking at "In Memorial " pages before I read the publications content.
Thanks agian, TomM
Terry,
When I first signed up there was a member who's handle was "Goldenhawk" who later passed.
Not sure of his real name but was a popular member who had helped me out early on.
RIP to "BOWMARKS"- Mark Sharpe, a fellow lefty.
I don't put this name up to upset anyone in any way shape or form But this man was and gave a ''Wealth' of information and that was "Mr. Bow Doc" who has shared many of his talents on restoring old bows and has helped many in the "How To" years ago...
"Bretto", Brett Eisman.

Yes...GoldenHawk...now maybe I can find him..
LeRoy Carlson AKA Golden Hawk
Bob Corbitt of Roanoke, VA recently passed. He was a big supporter of the St. Judes auction. Another, is Barb Dumas, who died in an auto accident several years back. I can still remember the beautiful quivers she made and the number of friends she had on this site.
Stan Levy
Bob Jacobson
Ken Denton, super guy......
 The loss of fellow archers always upsets me.....but we must go on. The ones I have met or dealt with is even harder.
Marty Rinke - AKDD
RIP
Larry Fischer
Brett 'Bretto' Eisman
Brian Krebs
Donald Rowan
Harold Couch
Dan Gillenwater aka Greyfox
David Shepard
Jack Howard
Mickey Wilson AKA Redhawk
Galen Benson "BenBow" - a prayer warrior, man of God...
Jesse Sperry (23) "Snypershot317" - died in his pregnant wife's arms on the day their first daughter was to be born. A young man with his heart given to God, and his priorities in the right place, working hard to care for his family. Tragically killed by a driver under the influence of painkillers driving 90 mph, when the driver slammed into the rear of the Sperry family's car at a stop sign.
Grant Young
Bill Krenz-TimberlineX
Fred Gephart
May God rest their souls. May their loved ones find comfort and solace in their memories. May each of us remember that our time on God's Earth is short and so very precious. Let your arrows fly in their memory and live each day to it's fullest with God's grace.
Terry that is a great idea!
John Rook was blind but he used to have Trad Gang read to him.
Larry Osborn, I don't know what his trad name was . He used to come out to ND to hunt with me . A great guy, he was from from Ohio.
There was a gentleman from Idaho that horse packed in whitewater rafters if memory serves me correctly. I believe he went by Hard Tack or Hard Scrabble. Sold him a longbow and he sent me a handwritten thank you note and told me he won the state shoot with that bow. His wife posted when he passed away and wrote how much he enjoyed tradgang. Wish I could remember his name/handle for sure.
Ed Scott of Owl bows. Great man, was full of helpful advise on bow building.
The really sad part.......as long as this list is.......it will grow. Live everyday to the fullest.
Barb Dumas
I will check and see if Ed Scott was TG member
John Polyniak
Lynn Hunt
Terry, thank you so much for doing this, I have pondered having something like this for years. A sticky like "Trad Gang Remembers" or something like that. Awesome.
Sadly the list is long, will get longer, and there are some already on it I didn't know about.
Black Hawk as in Lon Scott Terry ?
Johnny Gottler aka JAG
And mentioned earlier as Brad, it was Bob Corbitt, from Va.
Unsure if Russ Dickson was a member. I'm pretty sure David Mims (DCM) was.
Glad to see Johnny Gotler JAG remembered.

I believe so on DCM....did Russ Dickson have a nick name he went by here?
Dr. Charles 'Bert' Grayson
Bill Metcalfe
Terry, I don't think Russ would've had a handle. Think he always went by his name. At least he did in other sites.
"Izzy" - Israel Roman.
May God forgive him and grant his troubled soul peace.
Thank you, Terry, for including him in the initial post.
Steve Mowles. I can't remember his handle. He had a number of Virginia friends on here, so someone please chime in.
Thank you so much for doing something special for these members . A lot of them have helped me in many different ways . God bless them all
I was lucky enough to take Chris Surtees on a SC alligator hunt, he shot a nice 8 footer. Still have the teeth marks in my aluminum boat where the gator chomped down on the railings! I also was friends with Chris dad Larry, I have not been able to connect back with Larry for years. Larry gave me Chris's Dog tags and his fanny pack, I carry them with me hunting every year...
On June 6, 2016, we lost Kevin Brady. Kevin was 58 and is greatly missed by our trad group of shooters here in NW Iowa. Brain cancer took him from us. I know his wife, 4 daughters, 2 grandchildren, and extended family miss greatly also. His Tradgang handle was "cyred4d". Kevin could shoot with the best of them! I was witness to this many times! He loved his Blacktail bows. I shoot with the tab he once gave me as a little remembrance to him.

No... I was mistaken on the nickname he was Golden Hawk I was trying to remember instead of Blackhawk. Sorry about that.
TTT
Bretto (Brett Eisman)and I always went to Snow's bowshot the last weekend of September. Camped out for the shoot and shared the campfire with other shooters. Sure miss a good friend and hunter.
As Mark Twain once reported,
"The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated."
Lon dang it man I was worried. Glad you're upright.

Steve Berger from New York
I'm not sure but thinking he was a member..Jay Kidwell...just saw where he passed away in Feb...
Yes...Jay was a member.
Backup top in case there are any more we want to add before we put this forum in play.
I agree we should remember these great trad gangers. Terry, maybe we need a roll, for them somewhere, it would be nice. As those here for the most part are special people. Rest well, brothers.
I really appreciate this thread... :archer:
We cant forget the great Roger Rothhaar, a great guy and whitetail master.
Keith Goebel from Maryland. Keith was the 1996 IBO traditional longbow champion. He was instrumental in designing and testing several 21st Century bow models when Jim & Buddy owned the company.
My wife Nancy (RedBird)
She didn't post on the forum but she liked to read what others had to say. She had the heart of a true bowhunter and was my hunting partner for over 50 years.

I can verify the existence of Lon Scott , I saw him with Steve Gorr at Tri cities shoot two weeks ago .
Reese, we all loved you..............all the older trad in the Texas Panhandle, we say be at peace old friend...........
At the end of the day and the sun settin' low ,
The crusty old man sits with his trusty bow .
With light fading fast and cold settin' in ,
He looks to the sky with a big toothy grin ,
This life it's been hard, with it's ups and it's downs ,
A family that Love's me and friends some were clown's ,
The season is over , and clouds rollin' in ,
His last hunt is finished and comes to an end .
It's time to come home now the Lord says to him .
It's time to come home and to be with your Kin .
So softly he faded with nary a sound ,
His hand and his bow softly fell to the ground .
His last hunt is over , his rest now begins ,
His last hunt is over , Gods love never ends .

With respect to those members we've lost , think it's kinda neat at least two have been confirmed as still with us.
Reading this list of names brought tears to my eyes...thanks Terry!
Dale, that is awesome, you've got skills.
Was Lamont Granger a member?

What ever happened to Frank , a fella from Ohio, great guy to deal with . I know he had some health issues.....???

Brian Krebs
Thank You for including Brian in your memorial post. Caused me to research the original thread of his passing and re-live the bitter pain of the loss of my friend while fondly remembering the times spent over our campfire. Man that guy could eat a bunch of ribs.....
I recall building Brian a set of arrows one year. I had inscribed upon each arrow the following prayer:
May the evening thermal currents kiss the backside of your neck as you reach full draw..... we shared a good laugh as he contemplated and eventually understood the meaning of that prayer. Still brings a smile to my face.
Terry, I think the Trad Gang community would be well served to start a "Memorial Wall" section to remember our fallen buddies. If we don't honor our own, no one else will. Archery, and specifically Traditional Archery, has a way of getting into your bones and dictating a lifestyle that is both honorable and humbling. It is right that we remember those who touched our lives through the stick and string, blazed a trail for us to follow and yet passed before our time.
Ken Denton..... I miss him very much, I spoke with him the day before.....

Like Ron, my wife Lisa wasn't a member but she was with me and supported in everything that I did allowing me the time to run Pine Hollow Longbows and traveling all over the world with me. Many of you knew her from shoots and events that we attended.
Just heard that Don Assenheimer passed today. Another great bowyer and gentleman gone. RIP Don
My dad, known here as "Slow Bow Jimmy," passed away October 22, 2018. He left to go deer hunting that morning and never even made it to his blind. We found him by a tree, his Ben Pearson Mach One laying beside him. He had a massive heart attack. He was 72 years old, and had milked his two years of retirement for all it was worth, mainly by returning to his love of traditional archery. He taught me to hunt growing up, and though I've been on a hiatus for many years, I've been getting some of his bows out and shooting with family—including my son—recently, keeping the tradition alive!
Very sorry for your loss, SBK and Mike.
My beloved twin "Nakohe" aka Donald Rowan. I miss him every day.
Danny, I always liked following your brothers posts. Never met him but, felt like I did.
Milan Rancic. I believe his username was Mooseran. Bought a Pronghorn longbow from him and ended up talking on the phone with him for hours on multiple occasions. He was a big time Bear memorabilia collector.
What a great thread! To the top
My oldest brother - Conny Trahan. His handle was Lil Bobby and came from what he called his very first traditional bow - a Bob Lee Signature Takedown Longbow. He passed away last year due to cancer.
He did not start traditional archery until about 10 years ago but boy did he love it. I was thankful that we got to share this passion together before he passed. He loved Trad Gang and even went on a Trad Gang hunt in Texas years ago.
His trophies were his time in the woods and the encounters with nature. He also took a real liking to collecting bows.
I think his love for traditional archery came from an very deep conviction in him that can be summed up in these words - "It matters HOW you do things - not just that you do them."
I love you brother and hunting will never be the same now that you are gone!
My oldest son Ken Jr, he wasn't a member of TG yet as he was just starting his trad journey and doing well at it.
His first was a mulie I passed at 12 yards as it was heading his way. Second was a good whitetail he figured out on his own and got a great pic with.
Love and miss him all the time...

Harry F. my father, passed 29 June 2018 at 88, he taught me a love and respect for the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping. My brothers and I spent many weekends "up on the creek" fishing for brook trout, browns and rainbows. He was not a member here, but spent several years chasing Whitetails with he Sears fiberglas bow and Bear arrows.
Everett Emerson Orben, grandfather who passed 15 Jan 1995 at 101 and 9 months. He was a force in my young life as I spent summers working with him, cutting firewood, snaking out flag stone for walk ways in town, and fishing. He didn't go many places without his Model 94 30/30 behind the seat of his Scout. Spent many years hunting with that old man and the rest of the family in Northern PA. Still have the Remington .30 cal pump rifle that killed the biggest bear in PA in 1923, which he gave me. He taught me a respect for the woods that clings to me today.
Miss them both, but remember them more every day.
