Well I've been hauling my butt around the course for 3 miles a morning with 40# pack for a couple of months. Gear is kicked into a pile, list made and checked twice. Tomorrow Steve our new guy in camp this year is coming by to get his gear checked and packed.
Got 17 dinners for three prepared and dehydrated and making jerky today. It's hard to not stop and dream about it.
Two weeks and we are on our way north.
Who else is having trouble sleeping? LOL
Mike
My trip is only going to be whitetail in the Florida panhandle... but I am pretty itchy. Of course my season doesn't start til Oct 20.
I suspect I will have a little trouble getting to sleep tonight, I leave tomorrow morning for a week in the Maine woods for a chance at a bear. I am ready to go!!!!
David
No real "trips" for me. I'll be heading up to my place in East Central WI. for the deer opener on 9/15. It will be #51. Never missed an opener yet ! Good luck and stay safe on all your trips.
Have fun and take lots of photos.......best of luck to your group.
Good luck Mike! What brand of bow ya takin? :o
Or at least what specs?
If he said he's taking other than a Dryad I would be shocked.
Yep just razzin him!
Shoot a big one Mike! :archer2:
Best wishes Mike!
I leave a week from tomorrow for my first ever mountain hunt. Drew a mule deer tag in Colorado. Can't wait!!
best of luck Mike
i leave for Idaho elk in 19 days
Best wishes on your Alaskan moose hunt Mike. Take lots of pics we will be looking forward to them.
John and I are both shooting the new UL mountain riser and RCTX limbs. 51 pounds on the fingers. I think both of us are using the Solid 125 broadheads also.
Bow is tuned. Going to fletch some new arrows tomorrow and also check my grouse arrows out. Got a package from 3R yesterday.
I'll start packing this week for bear in Ontario. It is going to be a very special trip.
Mike, do you have a special recipe for your jerky.
Good luck to y'all!!

Good like Mike and all. My dreams should come true as I too return to Alaska and make camp for moose in less than two weeks now! Mike

Bear_hunter 45, Yes I will collect video footage as I've done on every hunt. I'm not sure if the footage will be used with a Brothers of the Bow project or for my own Herd Bull Productions. Yes Kevin you have had a few guests over the years. Planning will soon give way to doing.
Michael...Am most hopeful that you and your team enjoy the best during this marvelous adventure.
Days are going by so slow I think they are 48 hours long.
Mike
Why do you have to tease us like that????
:biglaugh:
Wait for this every year! Good hunting. . . PLEASE keep us posted. . .
Dan in KS
Good luck Mike. Same equipment as last year?
Same camp equipment as last year, new bow as we are going with the our new UL Mountain 19" riser and RCTX limbs in the hunter graphics. We have added to our First Lite gear this year also with some of the new fleece hoodies and the new corrugate guide jacket.
Mike
Hey Mike - What is your schedule? When are you going to be in Tok? I'm probably heading out on the 7th. If your here at the same time I'll try and meet up with you & John.
This Friday I'm going down to hunt the elusive blue berry on the Denali hwy. Daughter, wife and other side mother need a berry fix. The boys plan to do some hunting. Left my tags up at the cabin last week during the early moose so can only accompany my grandsons in the field. The oldest, Trayl, 21 has pulled two moose out of there plus his Dad has nailed several over the years. Possible caribou for them also. Moose opens the 1st down there. Trayl also claimed a third this winter.. .. with his brothers car. at -30 below some where between Kenny Lake and Palmer. Totaled the car. He was dressed like every Alaskan kid, tennis shoes, jeans & t-shirt, perfect gear for cold weather..
John
John,
We don't get to Tok until the 11th so probably will miss you this year.
Good luck on the berry hunt!
Mike
It's 4:30 a.m. and I can't sleep. Steve our new moose hunting partner will be over this afternoon to pack our gear in the big totes to make ready for shipping to AK. On Friday we will take them to Alaska Air cargo and send them to Anchorage. They will be waiting for us on Monday morning. Being a known shipper for Alaska Air is a great way to get gear there and meat and gear home.
Going to go make coffee and then go over my checklists again. LOL
Mike
tick toc, tick toc! :banghead:
Good luck, God's speed & safe journey.
It's 4:44 a.m. and no more sleep today for me. Going over checklists. Got the boxes packed for Alaska Air Cargo. Will be taking them to the airport tomorrow and picking them up in Anchorage on Monday morning early. Checked bag is packed (49.5#). Getting my carry on in order today. Steve and I leave Saturday at 12:15 and meet John in Seattle Sunday morning. All of us are on the same plane from Sea to ANC.
Sunday will be busy, got to pick up the rental truck, pick up our gear at our friends place in Anchorage and go to the rental house to sort it out in the garage. After sorting we will go get our licenses and tags at Bass Pro a mile or so down the road.
Monday we do it all over again after picking up our boxes at Alaska Air Cargo. When we are done we will have our personal gear (50# each) and two gear loads coded with different colored packing tape and ready to load in the truck for the drive to Tok on Tuesday morning.
Well I think coffee is in my near future.
Mike
Mike, you gotta be like a kid waiting on xmas day.
LOL, I know the feeling.
Best of luck to you guys.
Good luck to you sir! I always look forward to the pics and story of you guys Moose hunting adventures! Be safe and shoot straight!
did two AK trips so far, hope to do at least one more before they plant me. However anxious and what not, planning and prepping is the next best thing to being there. :)
Best of luck and will be following along...
Loaded our gear boxes in the truck a few minutes ago. Will be picking Steve up and heading to Alaska Air Cargo in an hour.
Checked baggage and carry-on are packed. Need to get my med bag taken care of to put in my personal item.
Mike
Do you have idea how slow a clock is when your 30 minutes from leaving for the airport?
Mike

Good luck! Sounds like a fun hunt!
This is what dreams are made of. Have a safe trip, and I hope a big one comes your way.
