I doubt that a lot of you will recognize the hunter in this picture. Like so many he used to be a regular and you could always count on the accuracy of his statements. Also like so many he had drifted on to other endeavors making little time in a busy life to visit here.
His name is Curtis Kellar and he and I have trod many trails together. When the chips are down I know he'll be there helping shoulder the load if not taking on more than his share. I thought for a while he was going to work himself to death, but I knew the lure of the bow would get him in the end.
So here is a pic of Curtis "Littlefeather" and a very nice free range Axis buck taken at 12-13 yds. The second pic shows the deadly effect of his aim. The buck ran a paced 63 steps.
He's back to making some really nice selfbows again and that's one in his picture. It's a 60" 47# Osage self bow without a shelf. The arrow was a river cane shaft with a Magnus I up front.

Yep, I miss his posts! Glad to hear he is still at it and getting it done! :clapper:
Good to see Curtis is well, hunted hogs with him a few years back.
Always enjoyed his posts, comments, and photos. Glad to see he is still kicking! It might be the time of year with hunting seasons approaching, but it seams like a number of older members are popping back up! That's a good thing!!
Glad to see Curtis is doing well...
I've hunted with Curtis too. I wondered what has happened to him. He is a good guy and a good writer too. I always looked forward to his threads. Good luck and nice buck Curtis!
Good to know Curtis is up and running again! Miss the old boy!

Great deer!! :)
Yeah, Kenny it's a nice one. CK told me they get to be around 300 pounds or even more. I didn't know that. I just thought they were like a regular deer.
Well, I just got off the phone with Curtis and he's gettin' the itch to do a bear hunt again. I guess I need to start researching where we can go. We both prefer a western hunt so that narrows it down some... though these things are always subject to change. :dunno: It's been a while since I shot a bear.
Good to see his smile again! To be honest I would not have recognized him without taking a closer look .
Good stuff Charlie, congrats to curtis.
Good to see him again. Have missed his posts.

Hey Charlie,
Next time you talk with him, tell him Desertdude says hi.....
Nice pictures, beautiful Axis. Where does one find Axis, I assume it is a private ranch in TX, or NM?
That is wonderful to hear! Curtis is good people and it's good to see him hanging around. Hopefully, he'll stop by TG once and a while.

Glad to see Curtis is doing well. I wondered what had happened to him.
