Have missed an elk with my bow, killed one with a rifle (not the same hunt, ha). Going to Colorado next month Units 80/81 which is just across the state line from Chama, NM. We leave September 12. Can't wait! About to go shoot some more right now and working on arrows tonight. Sure hope to get to post you some "success story" pics when I get back. FWIW, there are five of us going, three stickbow shooters and two compound guys.

534 gr total arrow weight. Shot him at 13 yards and he expired 50 yards from the shot.
Good Luck to all
Never shot one but hunted them in Colorado, just being where the live is a great thing. I love the high country. Spent a week camping at 10,000 feet with Cyclic Rivers a few years ago........it was wonderful.

Your bow looks pretty low poundage from this pic!
Just off the mountain today , got my base camp set up and my first camp up on the mountain set. Packed in this morning between rain showers several miles and got everything set up for camp one. Saw a good bull and a few cows yesterday afternoon up in a park feeding also heard a few bulls talking. On the way out today I saw 2 elk but not sure what they were as I was in a massive downpour. The storm hit fast and hard and the temperature dropped just as quick. By the time I made the truck I could not hardly feel my hands and I was soaked. But I was happy as ever with elk sighted and the fish plucking bugs off the water every time I looked at the creek. Going back in on Thursday with my buddy's and we will be in the thick of it come Saturday morning...
Good luck everyone...
