My wife & I laid our beloved Cash to rest this afternoon. She loved everyone especially kids...but was a fierce hunting/tracking dog. She has left a big hole in my heart that I'm not sure how I can fill. She was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia/Stage 5 Lymphoma less than 6 weeks ago. I checked with oncologists across the country for some type of treatment plan even experimental...but to no avail. The cancer and pain are now gone so rest in peace my dear Cashy.
She got to enjoy a little sun under one of her favorite bushy spots this morning.

Sorry to hear. Will you be getting another?
Sorry to hear Doc, it's never easy. Lost my Blue Heeler the same way in March.
LD
Sorry to hear that. We lost both of our dogs last year. One to old age, one to Canine dysautonomia. Just now ready to get a new one.
So sorry to hear about that, our furry friends can be like family.
Sorry for your loss.
I really feel for you and your wife. Losing a dog is a hard thing to do. My oldest JRT is getting up in years and I dread the day he has to go away. Since our kids grew up and moved away, our dogs have become our children.
That's too bad, sorry for your loss. They are such a big part of our lives and we miss them so much when they're gone...
Sorry for your loss. Dogs/pets are family!
Sorry for your loss Jeff. I know how much she meant to you guys.
Sorry to hear that Jeff. They just weasel their way in and won't let go. Wasn't Billy her sire? Who was the dam?
It is always hard to lose a canine companion. My condolences.
So sorry for your loss, as said above pets are family. I had to put my chocolate lab down at 5 years, I know the pain you feel, I have a picture of him and his half sister in my toolbox at work. Not a day goes by that I don't look at them and I don't choke up a bit. We had to put her down at 11 years, they were 2 years apart. The pain will slowly go, but the memories you made with them will last forever. Know that she is in a better place pain free, and enjoying all the sights and smells of the woods. In my prayers.
Jason
Thanks for all your kind words. As a veterinarian I've gone down this road many times...never easy!
Nathan,
Billy was her sire to our Tilly another off line from the Jeanneney's breeding. I have been in touch with Jolanta to let her know. They have been very supportive.
So sad.....
That is sad !
So sorry to hear about the loss of your little friend. It is like losing a family member.
I am so very sorry for your loss.😥
Very sorry for your loss sir.
So sorry bud! Always a difficult time and know your pain..
Here's to a lifetime of friendship. :clapper: You'll never forget the great times you shared.
Just awful to have a good friend pass.......and there is no better friend than a dog....... so sorry for your loss !!!
Jeff,
Sorry for your loss. Been there several times and it is never easy.
Sorry to hear about your dog; I am facing a similar situation. It is never easy, but finding another seems to help.
Sorry to hear that. Those things are smart (stubborn) dogs. I bet she always greeted you when you get home for the day. That is a nice looking dog. I like those forehead "sprouts".
Do you mind is I ask how old she was? Our WHD is 14 and I thought she was gone 3 times. Two years ago I thought she wouldn't survive a deer tracking behind the house. She had lymes really bad for a while and never recovered fully and this spring suffered through UTIs several times that wiped her out. Her vision and hearing is getting bad, and if she keeps peeing on the floor she will soon be seeing Cash. But I'm sure she would blood trail until exhaustion if I needed her.
Tedd
Tedd,
She would have been 9 this fall. Her mother Tilly another great tracking dog is still alive...but going deaf and arthritic. Cash's nose was something else as 50% of the time she would air scent rather than be on the trail. We breed Tilly (now 13) to John & Jolanta Jeanneney's stud dog Billy. Her favorite spot was on top of the sofa looking out the bay window.
Now she can run free and not have to be confined by her radio collar. She actually broke through that once when a deer was hit on the road and ran up a right away behind our house. We had to take the other dog out and found her sitting on top of the dead deer...claiming it as her's

I'm sorry buddy...that's never easy.
Would Tilley have come from the Erie PA area, and some descendant of one of Jeneanys blood lines? Molly air scents most of the time too. I took me a while to realize she would work on the downwind side of a blood trail by a few feet instead of right on the track. Isn't is funny how they "claim" a deer?
Tedd
I'm sorry for your loss Jeff.... they simple become part of the family.
So sorry to hear this Jeff. I remember Cash and Tilly the times I stayed at your home. Their personalities always make a house feel more like a home. I have a soft spot in my heart for all dogs, especially great ones like yours. Hang in there buddy. BW
So very sorry for your loss. It's a terrible feeling to loose a loving companion like a good dog. My wife and I lost our Riley this past April and I think of her every day. Thoughts and prayers for you.

:-(
Tedd,
Tilly did come from Erie, PA!
Sorry for your loss, lost my yellow lab after 14 years a while back, he was probably the best friend I ever had.
Very sorry to hear this. I am hopeful that you can get to a point where the fond memories of her will start to ease the pain of her loss.
So sorry, Jeff. One of the worst things we humans go through is losing a dog. Takes a piece of you with them. Remember the good times, it helps.
Sorry to here of your loss. I lost my chessie and my lab over the last couple years. They left a big void in the house.
Sorry for your loss. Tough times, but this pup is free from the pain and still tracking in the clouds.
Jeff,
Dogs find a way to imprint into our hearts with good memories. Sorry for your loss.
God bless, Pierre
So sorry for the loss of your dog, Jeff..
I know exactly how you feel.
So sorry Jeff, my "Pop" is long in the tooth and spends his days now far from the duck blind he ruled. He is UPS driver number 1 consumer of dog biscuits
I'm sorry to hear of your loss. It's not easy to go through. Just take solace in the fact that the pain and suffering are gone. RIP Cash.
Sorry to hear this tippit. Prayers sent for family and loved ones. I know your profession has made you see this type of thing many times... Never Easy.
A dog owner knows all you can do is put your arm across someone's shoulders and wait for the ache to subside. Losing a fine dog is like no other pain in the world. You've got my sympathy and condolences.
So sorry for your loss.
Those folks who've never been willing to have a dog cannot even remotely understand the love an animal and a human can share.
Very sorry for your loss!
Sorry for your loss.
I'm sorry for your loss
Jeff,
Sorry for your loss. Dogs are very special members of the family.
So sorry. I know all to well the pain and loss you're feeling. Lost my best buddy almost 2 years ago. Still hurts. I miss Bandit everyday[attachment=1]
Sorry for your loss, breaks my heart looking at her pic.
I'm sorry for your loss. They are such a part of of our lives—actually a part of us—it is hard to imagine them not being there. Sounds like Cash is in a better place, though. I know that doesn't make it any easier. My condolences.

Just seeing that picture with the line above it is enough to bring tears to my eyes. Having had 5 Great Danes, and having to go through a similar experience with several of them, I feel your pain.
Currently have 2 now, and one of them is getting older...
Even though I'm retired, my clinic still treats me like the Old Man of the practice. They were so thoughtful to send a Bouquet of Roses for Cash. Laid one pink rose where she last rested. Still having a hard time.

Hardest thing I ever had to do was make that same decision. She was 14 years old, I feel your pain. My biggest problem I had was I felt guilty for hurting so much for the loss of my dog when there are so much more important reasons for feeling the hurt. Then a fellow Tradgang friend told me. Do not feel that way because, Toby was a gift from our savior Jesus Christ. A gift that we are responsible for just the same as any gift God would grant us. You grieve your pooch my brother and listen to your heart, time will heal your sorrow but you will never forget the gift god gave you and your family. Remember the great time you had and never forget.
So sorry for your loss Doc! It's never easy that's for sure.
