Busy packing for the move to Georgia......took a couple of hours off to go shoot with KAT and huntmaster70 on Sunday morning. Came home and got right back at it with the packing......it was hotter than a pepper sprout. Worked the rest of the day and crashed about 8 pm. Went out this morning to go to the post office and there it was..... my ILF Zipper with the Z-4 limbs.......still strung........ :banghead: and one of the limbs had a 90 degree bend in it. Just had to much stuff on my mind and forgot all about it. Lesson learned the hard way........so one les s set of limbs to pack for the trip south. :dunno:
ouch! :o
The really bad part......the last 2 weeks I have never shot so well as I had with this combo........... :dunno: :readit:
I hate it when that happens and you can't even blame anybody else.... :knothead:
Dang! Sorry to hear that Ron. Hopefully you can get you another set of limbs once you are all settled.
Dang, Ron, that's sad. Youll just have to order a new set!
Oh man Ron,that sux...
sorry to hear that Ron
Sorry for your loss. Don't you just hate it when life gets in the way? It must have been a real barn burner to bend a limb like that. I have been taking only one bow to the range lately because it so blasted hot. Usually I have them strung in their case but not for more than a few hours. After your experience I may modify my way of keeping them covered in the back of my Escape.
I have a bunch of limbs so I'm not completely beat on this.......bad part is I don't think the Z-4 limbs are available anymore. The rack is full......we'll suffer thru my stupidity........ :biglaugh:
You probably ought to just send the riser to me to put the tragedy behind you! haha
Those zipper ilf to riser are getting hard to get, don't thing are they being made anymore
What a bummer !
Oh man that really stinks Ron. Just a case of too many things going on. We have all made those mistakes.
Hopefully, a stroke of good fortune follows
You should have took my advice to just stay here. :knothead: (WAY too much work to pack up & move) That does suck though, you were shooting that setup well!
There are a few things I will miss up here in New York..........but the move will be worth it down the road. Like in January and February ........ :dunno: :goldtooth:
IMO that was actually good fortune. That limb was a failure waiting to happen--at least it didn't go when you were shooting. Epoxy has to be cooked at temps way higher than it will ever get outdoors (unless you are camped near a volcano).

I took it that the bow was still in his car. :dunno:
My bad--I thought it was just left outside.
Darn Ron, that really sucks. I know how much you liked those limbs.
Yes fellas, I left the bow string on the back seat of my pick up on a 95 degree day
...... all day !!!

So you REALLY cooked it.
Some times smart people do dumb things. But that's a harsh learning experience.
Hate to see that happen. Back in the 90's we would get a bunch of bows (trad, wheel, x bows it didnt matter) in the shop every year during early archery season where people had hunted in the morning and left their bows in the trunk till their evening hunt . Its amazing how hot the inside of a vehicle can get. Just feel blessed it didnt do damage to your truxk. I have a friend with a spinal disease that keeps him from shooting a regular bow. He left his crossbow in his front seat one day just to come out later and find that it blew up and part of a limb prod went through his windshield.
Oh man that's terrible!

I used to carry a pcp airgun with a 2700 psi bottle in my car. I found it best to keep out in the trunk in a foam case with some other material on top. It would stay cool even after several hours.
That just plain sucks...... hopefully someone learns from this unfortunate event that you suffered.
Back in my wheelie days I would put my bow in my truck when I went to work and would go hunting after work. After a really hot day I got to the woods, climbed a tree and waited on the deer. A doe came by and offered a perfect shot, I drew my bow and the top limb folded up like a door hinge. I learned my lesson about bows left in hot cars.
I can say with out a doubt, I will never let that happen again........ :goldtooth:
