Title: Bear strings
Post by: txcookie on July 01, 2018, 12:55:28 AM
Love my Montana but read that the string is no good. What's wrong with the strings?

The string that comes with a Montana is fine.  However, there are MUCH better strings, made from better materials and with better braiding on the loops.  I have several 10 rings FF strings for my Montana and its a better shooting bow now.

I picked one up at Lancaster Archery the other week to look at it. The first thing I noticed was that the factory Bear string looked pretty good. And had the right number of twists in it. The Montana seemed like a nice bow as did the Patriot. I didn't shoot them.

The patriot Is a sexy lookin bow. I am glad that its isnt stocked anywhere near me. My implusive side is how I got my montana.......

No buyers regret on it tho. Its easy enough to shoot I actuallly look like I know what I am doing

Bear strings are not bad, just cosmetics could be better.  I have been shooting the one that came on my 59 Kodiak reintro for about 3 years now.  It shoots just fine--made from D97.

Unless they changed, pretty sure they are a 14 strand Dynaflight '97, no padding in the loops...which is pretty standard for "factory" strings, and WAY ahead of the 16 strand Dacron that comes with a lot of bows.  Could it be better?  Probably, but it's still a pretty good string.
