Well, I visited a local forest company today who offers free permit access to some of their properties. Picked up my permit and maps for 3 bow hunting only tree farms that are not far from where I live. I fear they will be very pressured but, with my disability, I gotta take what I can get! Going to head to a couple of them in a few weeks for some scouting and will take a few pics of the areas. Going to hunt from a tree seat as I am not to thrilled with hanging a stand and having it stolen.
Anyone done this kind of hunting and if so, got any tips to tip the odds in my favor? :)
Wannabe you mention disability, may i ask what is wrong? I am trying to reshape how i hunt due to an accident i had last spring that makes getting around difficult for me at times
I had a major flair up and was diagnosed with RRMS. It has left me with nerve issues in both left/right arms into the hands and balance issues. Some issues with my feet and lower legs too. I also suffer from severe fatigue if I push myself to much. Will have to do my walking in with a walking stick. Below is the area I plan to hunt. Ward RD. will be the walk in gate.

Thats not a bad looking area. Are those logging roads cutting through? I know how it is with walking. I had a mower accident and the blade cut through the tendons and into the bone on my left leg. I walk fine now but i have days where it gets very weak or just goes numb
Yes, actually I was wrong. The entry gate is right there at the bend in the road where the two residences are Just below Ward RD. I will have to walk in from there on the logging road and scout me out an area to sit for the day. From the aerial view, I see a couple of water sources that might be the ticket to sit near during the hot early season.
Sorrry to hear about your leg. Hope you can make it work out and get yourself into the woods. Be careful, go slow and make sure you leave a detailed plan of where you will be with someone before heading into the woods.
I use the on x app and give exact coordinates of my path and hunting spot to my wife. I use to hike deep in and use my climber stand but now i hunt hunt from the ground on flatter land
Can you PM me that on x app ?
Good luck TW! I'm rooting for you to get it done!!!!!

Thanks Bisch! I'm hoping also and excited to get back into the woods. I might do some scouting this weekend and have my boy go with me. He loves to go hiking!

Keep after them TW you'll get it done -Hap
Thanks Hap! :wavey:
Hoosier: I hope you don't get one that runs into that water. Will make retrieval a little difficult. :bigsmyl:
[attachment=1]not as bad as the water in this spot lol
Wow, I'd be afraid to shoot anything in there!
It can be confusing to navigate at times
We are all old coal mine groundd around here
TW....Be safe and you may enjoy many more hunts.
Ask if they will allow you to push a bike up the trail. Make it easier to pack in your gear and give you support as you walk. I have taken deer out on an ancient Schwinn and you can too! Good on ya for keepin on keepin on!
