Been wanting to try these , and tanned rabbit fur was too pricey . Last week TBM email tips had a piece on them . Zonkers! Something for fly tying which I've never done.
Off to the auction site and searched it, now have enough 1/8" wide rabbit fur leather to do 90 some arrows for about $10 delivered.
Will try them at dark to see how they show up. Last fall my arrow disappeared against deer hair background . Didn't like that at all!!

Pretty nice ole boy...
I've used them a bunch over the years and they help. I've got some chartreuse standing by for this falls arrows.
I'd suggest adding an additional turn around the shaft on yours to "bulk" them up a bit.
Scored a piece of private ground to work on this year buddy. I've increased my options considerably. Looking forward to September and won't get up there much before time. Bummer. :dunno:
Thanks Roy!
That's a good idea Charlie, see, you can teach an ol dog new tricks!! And I need schoolin!! :biglaugh:
I'd forgotten about those! Wanted to give it a try some years back before all the hoopla happened to me. Look forward to your report as I might finally give them a try this year.
I have used the white rabbit zonkers, they work really well in low light situations. Those arrows look really nice.

Nice grouping!
Thanks TW , but that's only 15 or so yards. My preferred deer range... lol
Not too shabby ole timer..
I think you need to shuffle your target!!
The groups look better when the nock end of the arrow is an inch across!! :biglaugh:
Lonnie, I have, right before I took it to the cabin last fall, those guys love to shoot!!

Do they make those in 6"
ive used those quite a bit, I like white and yellow.
Thats what I use them with to Kenny, I love the wild turkey fletch
Lonnie , you might look for squatch zonkers.... :biglaugh:
Jim, you can't beat wild turkey fletch in my opinion. But, they are harder to see than yellow. So I dyed some of em orange with koolaid last fall. They were beautiful, til I shot my first buck with one. When the arrow had deer hair as a background, it flat disappeared.
So I went back to yellow fletch. These will work I'm thinkin!!
I may have to give those a try if they work in low light. I was considering lighted nocks, but I like this better if it works.
I'd like to see where I'm missing deer in low light :biglaugh:
They worked well tonite Brad. Gray target and the white showed up great near dark!
They work great. Marribou feathers do also, weigh next to nothing, available in a ton of colors cheap at a hobby lobby. Strip and glue. Dang near glow
Top Hat is also making adapters for wood arrows to use uni nocks.

That's it, I'm sold and will be putting these on the ends of my arrows for the upcoming season! Thanks Kenny for the post and info. TW
I tried them once. They got wet too easily. Of course every time I enter the woods it's a downpour so maybe others have better luck.

Always wanted to try these....how are you boys attatching them? Superglue like fletchings?
Tim B
The ones I use to use were self adhesive. They had a bright pink that really stood out!!
I think Three Rivers sold them. Real easy to install....look like a pink tennis ball going through the air.
I used superglue on the ones I cut myself
I used the glue shown in pic. Think it's similar to barge cement. Worked well. Also put one on with fletch tape and it also worked...
Pink for me as there is nothing pink in the Nevada desert. Easy to find on missed rabbits—grin in embarrassment
I have purchased and used white and pink fur tracers. The pink shows up better in all terrains, and since I often hunt in snow, pink is my go to tracer color.
Good point on the snow! I love late season!!
I often hunt during the firearm seasons with a bow and prefer not having a quiver load of white fletching or tracers bouncing along in low light conditions. I actually use chartreuse/orange fletching with a pink tracer and use a fleece camo fletching cover. Colorful.
Almost everyone in our club used them back in the 70s and early 80s and they worked great . I didn't use em cause they tickled my nose .

Was just thinking about that -- wanting to sneeze when I hit anchor!
LOL..
I kin just see ole Kenny drawing on the big stud buck..
Ker Choo.. as he gets a little fur up his nose...
And off goes the big buck..
Wouldn't be the first thing that went wrong on a good one! Like fish , the biggest ones seem to get away.... :biglaugh:
I had few big ones that never got a way but, had no camera to prove it. After eating the evidence, they said it was still just a tall fish tale!
I've used a lot of excuses over the years for why the big one got away.
"Everything was going perfect, until ........."
But never has "my arrow tickled my nose" been the end to that line.
We met a lady at a 3d shoot who had some she called her Muppett arrows. Seemed pretty fitting.
