Returned from Bear Camp. Incredible time with a few father/son teams, fathers who lost sons the past few years, and just a special time. Jason of Trad Bow Wilderness podcast was with us.
I had a bear attack my car- tore it up. Broke open a window, pulled/cracked the bumper, scratched the roof and numerous windows, broke the windshield wipers off. Also 2 encounters where I had to chase bears and scare them off with rocks. Lots of fun. Even had a new bowhunter try to arrow a bear wandering around camp and he harvested one of the guys truck tires (broadheads ruin tires!) LOL.
I ended up with a 280# brute. All scarred up from fighting. No hide and scars between his ears. I call him Mike Tyson. Likely PY. He made it a whole 15 yds after the shot (ok. 18 yds).

Any guess on how the truck tire will score ? :biglaugh:
Congratulations on your bear ! :)
Nice ! Congrats
Also. Any one know why photos turned out so BIG?
Florida Lime- The guy that lost the tire is actually going to surprise the young hunter with a mounted chunk of tire on a plaque! It will have the official score- like 265/65R18 or such. LOL :biglaugh:
That's funny - I almost suggested a score with a tire size.
And the pictures look just right to me !
Great harvest! Thanks for sharing. Sounds like one hell of a trip.
What broadhead did you use on the bear?
Jeremy
Sweet, congrats!

Magnus 4 blade with shaved down bleeders (look like old Bear Razor). Pretty much all I have used for 25 years. I am impatient and sharpening challenged. . . Accusharp and a few swipes on a ceramic rod. 3 minutes per head. Sliced through the bear- hitting both lungs and cutting off the arteries on top of his heart.
Black widow 55# @ 31". 670 grain arrow. 270 up front. 145 magnus.
Beauty Dan! Sounds like a fun trip. Glad Ontario opened back up the spring season.
Congratulations on the great bear!!! Where were you hunting in Ontario?
We were in Northwest Ontario. 3 hours north of Thunder Bay.
Congratulations Dan. Great story.
Thanks for sharing your story and pictures! I would love to see the look on the young man's face when he gets the mounted tire!
Very fine bear Dan, congrats. That boy looks like a Canadian hockey player :biglaugh:
Great bear, Dan. Did you have any doubt when he came in?
Gary-
Actually. I did have some doubt. So far most every guy I've been in Bear Camp with including myself has completely overrated the size of bears. The scarred scalp made me assume he must be a boar. But I had a 6.5 foot log in front of the bait and he did not seem quite that long ( though stretched out I think he will actually be that long) . I did not know he was that big until I walked up to him.
 Congratulations! Where in Ontario were you hunting?
Joe- Answered that above. NW Ontario. 3 hrs north of ThunderBay
Well done on a great Bear .....
,,Sam,,
Congratulations, that's cool!
That's a beauty! Congrats
Thanks ALL. (Yours was a BEAST too Corey-Especially enjoyed your video.)
As you all know- it is all a GIFT! I am forever amazed and grateful when it comes together.
Failed to mention too that Jason Samkowiak of Trad Bowhunter podcast harvested his bear the first night. Actually we went 7/8. 8th guy had chances but was holding out for a behemoth.
Found out today my car is TOTALED. A first for all the insurance people here in KS!! LOL
