Teresa Asbell is coming out with a cool new wool hat. The earflap folds up when you don't need it and down for ear protection when you do.
She has not figured out a name yet so if you have any suggestions please share them here.
Tradgang is THE place to introduce new products and for getting the best feedback there is in traditional archery - so - Teresa is going to give three randomly chosen folks from the comments everyone leaves on this thread.
She's looking for whatever thoughts and comments you might have. By commenting below you're in. When she gets back from the Compton Traditional Bowhunters Rendezvous she will pick three winners.
If you'd like to get your hands on one before then, stop by the Asbell Wool booth at Compton.
There will be wuite a few there in the booth for you to check out. There will be several sizes offered too, so if you can stop by, you can get one that fits, just right.
Thanks to all you Tradgangers for being so helpful thoughout the the years. Thanks to Tradgang for being the best traditional archery forum ever!
Thanks in advance for your help and input.
Check back early next week. We will announce the winners on this thread.
Thanks! Todd Smith
That's a very generous offer. Since you're looking for suggestions, if there was a short-brimmed version, that would probably be my go-to hat.
Awesome looking hats! Count me in! Thanks for the opportunity.
great offer! Please put me in the running. I too would love to see one with a short brim.
Very nice offer. I like the looks of that. Also agree with the short brim comments. If they are as good as the pullovers they will be top notch.
I have a size 7 & 7/8 pumpkin on my shoulders if she wants to have an xxl head to test.
;)
Looks to be a very warm, bowhunter friendly product. Thanks for the offer.
Looks cozy to me!!!
Love the look of it......may be call it the "Noggin Locker ".... :biglaugh:
Looks warm n cozy. I would certainly cherish one.
Reminds me of medieval headwear. Maybe give it an old English name.
Thanks for the opportunity.
Me likey and I'm in but, can't come up with a cool name!
Teresa Asbell is coming out with a cool new wool hat.
How about calling it the WoolCool Hat?
Will it be offered in the same patterns as the pullovers?
I also like the idea of a short brim, but it won't stop me from purchasing one!!!!
How about "wooly booger"
Thx for the chance!
Rodd
Just ordered my first pathfinder, this would go nicely with it. Thanks for the opportunity.
Jeff
I'd like in!
Very nice offering. Thanks. Like it the way it is.
Asbat, Asbells hat.
Theresa's Topper?
Earhugger?
Good luck with the send-off.
Great looking hat, trailblazer cap sounds like a great name for it.
How about the Tracker lid? Gotta keep track of those hats you know. Look great!
How about wooly cooly?
LOL
Would love to have one. Would look great with your other fantastic products.
I would love an Asbell Beanie. Looks great!
I like Stumpkillers...either Teresa's topper or Asbells Topper.
Looks great!!
Maybe add a thin fleece liner for more warmth and to reduce the wool itch. Looks like a great hat for the crisp morning air in Maine.
The "Crisp Morning Hat" would be a fitting name.
Jeremy
It looks great!! I would like to see a short, possibly wire edged, bill as an option. Something like the tradgang hats would be perfect.
Looks great! I'll be sure to stop by their booth at Denton Hill and pick one or two up.
Looks great! I'm definitely interested. Would also be interested in a short brim version.
Soft Sherpa/fleece liner inside would be nice too.
Also interested. I would second the notion of a thin fleece liner and small pliable bill.
I also think a short brim would be great with this hat. Also make it reversible, maybe a brown fall pattern on one side and a lighter snow pattern on the other,
Maybe a 3 inch MOLLE (same material)strap on the back for glasses or other hanging things-earbuds etc. gets them out of the way at the time of the shot. Love the look of WOOL TOPPER. Short bill yes-maybe as an option
Looks GREAT!!
How does this sound??
Wool + Beenie = Wee....
Ah, nevermind!!
Look warm and comfy
Looks great. I also agree a short brim would go a long way as well as making sure it is not to deep. A snug fit on the head would allow the ability to not have to constantly adjust. I like the ability to flip the ear flaps up because i don't like my ears covered unless absolutely necessary. This seems like the perfect "SubZero" hat. Nice work. Thanks.
Count me in!
How about "TA Tuque" (TA for Teresa Asbell)
I'm in, nice
Nice looking hat! I would just call it Asbell's wool hat.
I like em ! Since Asbell gear is worth waiting for how about options like pattern/color choice, reversible, fleece lining, and short wire brim.
Couple great names already posted..... maybe Trad-Cap ?
Yes, please. Cabeza cozy.
Looks nice please include me if you will? How about "Arctic Cap" !
I like it.
Those caps look great. How bout Northern Lights Cap
They look great! Would love to add one to my Asbell wool collection.
I really like that style; great idea.
How about koozie noggin, or koozie dome, or koozie crown
Really nice cap.
Theresa,
How about keeping it simple and calling it "The Lid"?
Herb
Teresa,
How about keeping it simple and just calling it "The Lid"?
Herb
Count me in, please.
How about "Northwoods Beanie"
Great looking hat !!!! I would want to have a lining inside , so wool didn't make direct contact with the skin . It likely is already there !!
Bruce
Thank you im in. How about the Asbell headheater or the Asbell cosy crown, noggin nest, my first thought was the trad topper.
I'm in thanks. Anything Asbell is awesome. Agree with a short brim model.
I would like to try it.
Prob need xxl as well
Always looking for good hunting hats. The "top hat" ?
Good looking hats :clapper:
How about a blaze orange version, I sure would love to wear something like that in UPSTATE NY in gun season or Late bow/muzzle loader. Also hoping you come up with an Extra Heavy Blaze Orange plaid color cause we have to wear it where I hunt and love your coats!!!!
"Trad Topper" or Punkin' Warmer"??
Looks like a great design to me.
Not sure what you will name it...but I'd call it my Huntin Hat.
Skullcap
Bean Screen
Dink
Asbell Tam (cause it shaped like a bell As-bell and its a cap or Tam)
How about Headheater.... :bigsmyl:..I'm in. Thanks
another great product!
Looks comfortable. A generous offer, please put me in.
:bigsmyl: Love to be included for one of them.
Put me in also, Love the pullovers
I would call it, the "dusty trail hat" Nick
Looks cozy. But is it dry-clean only? Something on my bald head is going to get pretty oily if I don't wash it regularly.
Nice looking"Lid". I'm gonna check them out this weekend at Compton.
I'm not sure but "hot head" seems fitting to me! Thanks for the generous offer.
-Jeremy

Another great product from some great people. Please put me in for the drawing. As for names, there are quite a few creative suggestions so far. Thanks for the generous offer.
Jeff
would love to see this in a short brim. Thanks for the generosity.
Twin Lake Toboggan - named for where they are made.
would love such a beautiful wool hat..
homebru
A small brim would be good. I have a "Radar" cap I use in the winter. It was meant to be worn under the M1 helmet of WWII. It was made famous by Radar from MASH. The one I use I got from a WWII reenactor supplier, 100% wool. When I paired it with my Asbell Jacket it kept the hood from falling down into my face keeping my vision clear and added a bit more warmth to the set.
Calling it the Asbell beanie would be nice, simple, and marketable. If you could add a short brim then you could call it the Asbell short-cap.
I also agree with the short brim idea. Lots of great names here! To get in on the fun, how about the wool "flapper." Please add my name and thanks for the generosity.
I agree with the short brim suggestion. But it looks good like it is and could fit in a pocket or pack.
Great looking hat for sure! I have a hard time finding a stocking cap that fits well due to my big melon so having a xxl size would be fantastic!
Nathan
I'd wear it with pride
Call it the Michigan Mellon Muffler
Or The Tahquamenon Toque
Or the Asbell Head Heater
Thanks for the chance to win one.
Great looking hat. I will have to check them out at ETAR.
I love Asbell wool, and I love hats! I'd appreciate a spot in te drawing.
Playing off another popular Teresa makes, I'd suggest the name Pathfinder Beanie,
This is very generous. Put me in please.
Mutton Top. I like the short brim ideas, too, but it looks good as is.
I would totally buy that hat to go along with my pullover! I know there are quite a few asking for a brim, but I personally like it as is. I don't know if it would be feasible for you to have both styles (brimless and brimmed)... Also, if it were possible to make the hat out of any color pattern you have so it can match the various patterns available for chest garments, that would be amazing!
Thanks for coming up with new things for us! I know a nice warm hat would do wonders where I hunt.
The "Woodsman"
Short brim or no brim, it looks like a keeper. I like Asbell Beanie, Asbell Topper or Top Hat or Toque, maybe Asbell Wool Bonnet.
Love the look. How about "Wooly Booger"??
It looks like a real warmer for sure and I think the brim is perfect, should keep shade over your eyes.
It sure looks "Warm 'Nuff" to me. I am another trad guy with a munka mellon at a 7 1/2.
Good luck with the new product.
Like the design. A must have.
Another great product from the Asbells. I also like the idea of a short brim. I wear a toboggan all winter and these would work really well.
Thank-You for this generous offer. I'm big fan of Asbell wool. With or with out a brim I have to have one.
PUMPKIN TOASTER
Looks great! I'm with the guys suggesting a short brim version!
Asbell wool "Noggin Cover". Hope it is made large enough to fit my 8" noggin.
Bill Turner
Ovilla, TX
Please count me in.
great looking product, would love a chance at one!
It kind of reminds me of an old jones style hat with the brim pulled all the way down. I would like one!
Looks cool I would like a chance at one.
I am in
How about " Timber ghost cover "
Carl
Thanks for the very generous offer Theresa. I love the Asbell products. I have at least one of all there products. How about The Asbell Stalker, Or Theresa's Stalker. Could be Asbell Deer Stalker. I'm sure the Asbell's will pick a awsome name for it. Can't wait to get one . Hope she has a red plaid one to match my Asbell Bibs. Or a gray one to match my light weight Asbell Bibs. Any way very exciting when Theresa comes out with something new. And Made in USA Michigan. :archer2:
A lot of great names being thrown out there, how about, The Asbell Top Knot. Proud to be in the running for a chance at one.
Jason
would love to get one
Wooly Noggen, tradcap
The defender,
Wooltector
The protector,
Woolcap
Thanks for the opportunity please put me in he running.
Nice hat, Thanks for the opportunity. How about the name: "The U.P " (Upper Peninsula)?, Frank
The " yooper" does have a ring to it... Go blue
Thank you for the chance Theresa, very nice of you to always remember us here! I look forward to saying hello at Denton Hill this year again as your section is always fun to shop and you are always so nice:)
The hat looks great. Functional, crushable in my pack and always wool quiet.
My thought was to add a cold weather component. How about a removable soft sheepskin section that maybe tied in for ear protection using simple shoelaces on each end going through a small button like hole in the hat. Could be tied in with a bow or double knot or removed depending on need making the same hat multiuse. Tied in is quiet and simple and exchangeable from hat to hat for pattern changes.
Bring some to Denton Hill please... travel safe!
By the look of the fit on the "models" head, it's almost a short brim now. Having them in different weights would cause a fella to need more than one.
I didn't look at all the names, so if this is already mentioned, lets say x2.
The Bush Beanie
I picked one up at the Compton rendezvous and it is great.
Looks nice and warm. Not really sure on a name though. I'll keep thinking.
i like it because it has no brim
Just thought of another name Todd!
"The Head Honcho" or " The Bobble Head" :dunno:
Looks awesome! Thanks for the opportunity
Warm looking hat.
How about calling it the, "Ear Coozie"?
Thanks,
Ron
You know, I wasn't really going to chime in on a name, but a thought just hit me. Around these parts, we call winter hats "stalking caps". So, if it had "Stalking" or "Stalker" in the name, that would be neat (like Silent Stalker because how quiet wool is).

How about " Asbeanie "?
Great offer! I like the idea of a brimmed version as well.
For names how bout the MoHawk beenie or Lurkers lid.

Lots' of good name suggestions already. I'm kind of partial to the previously mentioned Asbeanie, simple, fits. Anyway, thanks for the chance. I would be proud to wear it in the field and on the town.

Cranium Warmer
Brainiac Beenie
Just a couple of ideas. Put me in the drawing please.
SOL Cap (Stay out longer cap, NOT the other SOL)

Czech Proverb: Patience Brings Roses
Meaning: Be patient and you'll be rewarded greatly and beautifully.
Or, in this case a beautiful Asbell Wool Hat.
Maybe call it the W4 cap....The Warm Wool Woodsman's Watch cap.

Jeez guys...No offense ..but..Just chill a bit and let them get around to GIVING away a/few hats when they're good and ready.
It's not like you ordered one, paid for it and are waiting if ya know what I mean.
I'm excited at the prospect of being lucky enough to try one out too....but at the same time excited there will be a nice option available for a winter/fall bow hunting hat.
