I'd like to hear from you as to how heavy your hunting arrow is. Specifically a deer/bear setup...kind've new to traditional so I'd like to know what the average weight is. Thanks
10 grains per pound of draw weight is pretty standard fare. I shoot just a touch heavier arrow weight at the moment, but I'm still experimenting with some different arrows. I'm drawing 56# or so at my draw length, and my current setup is about 610gr on my arrow.

I like about 550 grain arrows, give out take a little for bows in the 45-50# range for bear and deer.
I shoot 550 gr to 650 gr from my 55 lb bow. I just like how quiet it is.
Around 550gr out of 50-52# bows with as much point weight as I can get.
585 with a Delta up front,57# longbow.Have killed black bear,deer and moose.Really quiet!Nothing but wood for me.

26.5 draw length.
27" Arrow length
Arrow GPP: 13.3
Front of Center (FOC) 24.7%
225 grain point with 75 grain insert. (Total up front: 300 Grains)
Total arrow weight= 553 - 556 Grains.
Approx.: 30 KE
157 fps
Whisper Quiet....
About 11.3gpp for me. 563gr arrow from a 50#@my DL Sarrels Blueridge longbow.

630 grains total from my 60# Blacktail recurve. 125 gr Woodsman up front.
Killer combination on blacktail deer and elk.
Mine run 600 to 620 grains (55 to 57# bows).
125 gr heads on 11/32" Douglas Fir and taper the last 10" down to 5/16"
I'm thinking of going with an arrow setup that is about 600 grains with about 25% FOC. My longbow is only 50# does 600 grains sound too heavy?

Exactly 12 GPI you will be fine. Will hit hard and be quiet. I find once you start getting 13 and 14gpi you still hit harder but trajectory starts to suffer.
Depending on my arrow setup im between 650 and 720 grains
Last season shot 705 grains 27% foc out of a 72# recurve. All I can say is what a thump!
I'm shooting 590 gr out of a 55# Tall Tines recurve.
I like 490 to 525 out of my 48 to 52# bows its worked good in the past on animals as big as deer ,bear and bigger things and still flat shooting for 3 d shoots .
600-620 out of mid 50's bow's
My go to bow for hunting is my N.M. Whisper which is 48# at my draw length. I shoot douglas fir shafts that come in right around 550gns. with 160gn. Ace broadhead. All my shots are less than 20yds. Most 15yds. or less.
From 524 to 563 gns out of 50-52# bows.
640 gr. out of a 50# recurve. My trajectory is horrible for 3D shoots where most shots are about 30 yards and beyond. But the gaps are easy & small at hunting distances, which is all I really care about.
10-11 gpp for whitetail---hunting with 36-40# longbows. Two blade broadheads--either grizzly single bevel or magnus stingers. I wouldn't hesitate to go 9gpp, but I just never come up with that combination when tuning. I'm not a fan of high foc or ultra heavy arrows for what I am doing.
I shoot 550-600 grain out of 47#. Works great.
The 9 1/2 -10 gr per pound is perfect for performance.
I draw 30" and find 9.5-10 gr can be just a little light but only because the bow might be a little loud and snappy.
11 gr per pound is a good standard for a 30" draw.
I am using arrows from 600-660 grains from a 59lb@30" bow.
