Cleaning up around the property, I come up with this.
[attachment=1,msg2800528]
I cut the side wall from the tire with a jig saw, and a fine metal blade. I measured the diameter of the tire, and used the old 2x4's to make a frame. 1/2" hardware cloth is cut to fit the bottom.

The frame is fitted inside, and a can of GreatStuff was used to lock in the wire back. (the brick in the center is to hold the wire, while the foam expanse )

Strips of tarp were stuffed all around the sides. There are only 3-5 layers in the middle, where the hardware cloth is.

Next, a bag of "Rubber Mulch"(shredded tires), and another can of expanding foam around the edges.

a second bag of shredded tire.

The rest of the tarp was folded on top, and compressed in, with chicken wire stapled on .

It's not fancy, but it works Great!

Do the arrows pull easily? I use a Rinehart 18-1 because a bag target is a pain to pull my footers or outserts out
Pretty ingenious!

It is like any other bag target, It depends 100% on the arrow. I have a set of GoldTip 500's that pull two fingers, and another set of skinny 700's, that are like pulling nails, on the same target. Anything with an edge or lip, like outserts, (havn't shot those since the early 90's :biglaugh: ) or footing will still be a problem.
Now that's what I call recycling! Congrats and a great idea. Thanks for sharing the process with us! :thumbsup: :campfire:
[attachment=1] here you can see the footers i use. The transition is pretty smooth but there still is a very slight lip
Nice! I always have trouble with the idea of spending cash on a nice target when the intent is to rip it to shreds. Good work!
Justin, I use a buffing wheel and just hit the back end of my field points. That rounds them over nicely. No more sticking/catching in the target.
Great Idea......you could have big tires and small ones for size differences, well done!!! :thumbsup:
Nice....
When using rubber mulch, I would layer and use an adhesive spray. The rubber mulch stayed in tack even after pulling many broadheds.
