Dan made me a 58" to "try out" but when I arrived, the bow was in the woods I like and had the grip I prefer along with the finish I am partial to. Things were not looking good for my checkbook. Six shots were all it took for me to say he wasn't getting the bow back.
Well, I've had this bow now for a day or so and thought I would share a few thoughts. With this bow I am drawing a legit 30" and can say it is absolutely the smoothest bow I have shot. A very quiet bow but the string is still stretching so I think I can get it even quieter when it's done. Performance wise, it is very quick. Dan said it shot with bows at least 3# heavier. I have a year old Whip HS that is 4.5 # heavier than the Whistler and shooting the same arrow, the Whistler is faster to my eye. He also mentioned( if I remember right) that a customer shot an 11.5 gr arrow with a 30.5 " draw 189 through the chrono.
This bow is just a joy to shoot, absolutely no hand shock that I can feel. After a few shots, I figured how it wanted to be gripped, which is slightly different than my Whips. The bow just seems to have a natural point-of-aim when bringing it up for the shot.
Took the bow for a sit-down on a bear bait last night and the thing that jumped out at me immediately, on the hike in, was the ease in getting around through the brush compared to the 64" Whip. The maneuverability of this bow is just a joy when hunting in my neck of the woods.
I know that I am still in the "honeymoon" phase of this relationship, and the warts don't start showing up for awhile yet but at this point, I am seriously considering getting another at a higher weight for elk.
If you are looking at a shorter bow with high performance I would recommend giving the Whistler a look.
Was that you that he posted a pic of on Facebook? Mine is being shaped they said on Facebook this coming week, kind of hoping that was a typo and that it's being shipped this next week instead of shaped, either way, it's not far off!
What brace height are you running on this? I just can't do the string angles on short bows with my draw length. Finger pinch is just inevitable. Seems like a good choice for those that like short bows.

Mike, I held your Whistler Thursday evening at Dan's place when I went to pick up my 68. Love that grip he did on yours and yeah, it was smooth to 30". I pulled back a 60" he had too and dang! That 60" was smoother than the 62" Whip with the 60" Whip riser he made me last fall. This is an incredible little bow they made. Makes a guy think....

I am running it right at 7.5 right now but may go up a touch. Dan said up to 8. I couldn't shoot a 60" Whip, just tore my finger up, but this baby is smooth as silk. No problems with pinch at all, at least to 30" on a 58" bow.
Todd, Dan said you got to fuss with it some. The grip really suits me, he's putting it on all my bows now. I want to go up 7 lbs for an elk bow so maybe will go with a 60".

BH set at 7-5/8 on this 58", very quiet. Grip is what I have Dan put on for me. He can do what ever you need. The more I shoot this bow the more I love it!! Man it smokes an arrow and the smoothness has to be experienced.

Thanks, wasn't sure it was going to happen, had swirling wind for four hours. Stuck it out and about an hour after the wind settled she came in. Not as big as others I've been watching but couldn't pass up the shot that was offered.
These bows are something else, pretty much all you have to do is hold on and they'll take care of the rest.

I will, only thing I'm worried about is that I'll be like you and ordering a heavier one for elk, well that and that my wife will appropriate this one for her!
I have both the Whip and Pika. They are great bows to be sure. I noticed you grip the Whistler a bit different than the Whip. Can you explain how you grop each that works best for you?
I grip both of mine w index finger around front, other fingers curled along outside of riser.
With my last four Toelke's I have gone with a D-bow type grip. I have found that it is easier and a more natural way for me to grip. The thumb rest seemed to rotate my hand toward the rest and I wasn't getting the heel of my thumb where I wanted it on the riser without conscious adjustment. With the D-bow type grip I can get a solid grip with my three top fingers and not touch with my pinkie at all. If I grip at all with my pinkie, I will shoot high every time. This works for me but might not for anyone else.

Congratulations! That was some quick work by your new bow for sure! My boys, 12 and 9, saw some black bear along our fence line twice over the last few days. Seems like they are on the move again. Always seem to pass through this time of year. Last year we had a mom and and three cubs on and under our deck one morning. My wife thought a cub was our dog at first, lol. The cubs got into some grain bags near our shop. Those pics were taken by my wife while I was at work.

Cool pics Todd. They'll make themselves right at home. Bird feeders and garbage cans are a big draw. Still, nice to see wildlife guess that's why we live here. Think I've found a place in Arlee that will tan with hair on. Want to get a couple more and make a bedspread with a wool backing. Good hunting with that D-bow of yours. Mike
