Title: Bison Gear Lost River Packs: two questions
Post by: Baffinland Archer on June 02, 2018, 01:12:57 PM
Hey Folks, been a lonnnng while since I posted here.

Two questions to ask.

1. Regarding Bisongear Packs: what is going on with these folks?  For quite a while, their website has had large yellow lettering indicating that they are shut down until spring as they are re-locating their production facilities across the country. Well, it is June now and by my reckoning, spring has come and gone. Anyone know the status of this firm?  I  hope they are still in business because good-quality gear such as what they produced, is hard to come by and Angelo was a good guy to work with.

2. I have one of their packs: a Lost River.  Used it for a few years and loved it but gave it up for something else; not because it was deficient, but because I wanted a larger, different style pack.  Now I am going back to the Lost River but I would like to mount my Lost River on a pack frame (as suggested is an option on the BG website) to give myself the best of both worlds: a day pack for short trips/excursions out of base camp, and, for multi-day trips, a frame that can carry my Lost River and additional loads.  I have not used an external frame pack since my army days (back when spears and shields were standard issue). Like a lot of other folks, I migrated over to the internal frame packs in the 80s but now I am thinking of migrating back to old school.

So this is a long-winded way of throwing the question out there to any Lost River pack owners who use theirs with an external frame: what frame works best with the Lost River pack?  And where can I purchase one?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Robert

Look in packs wanted.  Mike Orton was going to use a Lost River with the Outdoorsman frame...
